  upon further investigation, it appears that i was in error and misidentified the poster beacon of truth as being lawrence hughes/shunned father.

  the misidentification was based on a telephone conversation that i had with mr hughes on or about august 20, 2005, in which he expressed frustration and the same negative sentiments toward the members of jwd and the lack of support he was perceiving from them for his protest rallies.

  I'm sorry that our challenges in life sometimes seem like "no win" situations. It is my belief that we all answer to a higher authority. Those that have hurt you and your daughter will have to answer for their actions someday. Even in the dark times, Right and Good will always prevail in the long run. So no matter the support or lack of support you might be feeling, just take comfort in the fact that this is just the "battle". Not the war.

  Please also keep in mind (and let BoT know) that we all fight our own battles that are very personal to us. EXPECTING others to fight our battles goes completely against the point of fighting battles in this Life. They are OURS...nobody else's. Most of us fight the WTS in one way shape or form. Just because it's not a cohesive plan does not mean it's ineffective. You tear a wall down one brick at a time. You tear down the bricks in the WTS in your neighborhood, we all tear the ones down in our neighborhoods. Either way, the wall is crumbling.

  air baths are good for preventing colds... what you do is strip naked mornings and evenings and then bob up and down for a while.. .

  Leaving it behind for good

  its interesting how as i have been going through a deep reexamination of my life, how much i was still attached to my past.

  as you can see from my posts i am in an "exercise" program, exercising by keeping busy in the things that i have always loved.

  i am out of the rut and a happier person for it.. for me, rehashing material that i have decided was bogus long ago is playing a less and less important part in my recovery.

  it takes a lot of effort to make the shift and one thing i am finding out is that you really have to make the shift 100%, if you cling on to old ways of thinking, they win, you have to replace them totally with a new way of thinking, a true rewashing and cleansing of the soul.

  This is so true Joel. I realized awhile back when I hit my "rut", that I have to follow a recipe to the letter to get out of it. It's really simple when you look at it in writing. It's worked for me:

  1. Wake up early.
  2. Pray out loud or silently about what's making your heart heavy. Make the concious effort to "wallow" in it for 5 minutes and no more.
  3. Take a brisk walk or run, no matter the weather.
  4. Take shower and get "dolled" up. Not just clean, but get dressed like I'm really trying to look Good for my hubby. (Looking cute really makes me feel good!)
  5. Go about the rest of the day.
  6. Repeat for at least 5 days.

  Sometimes it takes three days for the "benefit" to kick in, but it's MUCH, MUCH easier for me to pull myself out of pits of depression. I have a mantra I learned from Al-Anon many years ago: Fake it 'til you make it. It works because it forces me into action when my depression would allow me to stay under the covers for weeks.

  Husbands! Smack your wife across the mouth!

  great advice received from a close jw relative who we visited last week.

  she said that husbands are the head of the family, and if the wife doesn't support him in serving jehovah then he should give her a good smack across the mouth, thats what she deserves.

  if only adam had given eve a good smack across the mouth when she proposed eating the fruit, we wouldn't be in the mess we are in now!

  I've wondered this myself Lee. Absolutely sickening when I think I grew up in that ridiculous mess. It's even sadder to me that my very intelligent and university degreed parents still believe. *shaking head* I doubt the kool-aid would ever be introduced. Asking the members to kill themselves wouldn't leave the GB anybody to financially support them.

  Look honestly at what is the cause of the stress......and then cut it out?

  I have to agree with Oz here. When I take a look at what's causing the stress, I then have to weigh the pros and cons. Sometimes it helps to write it down on paper. For some reason when I see it in black and white, it doesn't seem as overwhelming or I realize I'm stressing over something that I need to remove from my life. I'll ask myself: Is it worth it? Is it necessary? Is there an alternative? Only you can answer that for yourself. Best, Andi

  We survived hurricane Rita; Is everyone else okay? Bryan?

  we gave up on our internet connection yesterday evening, because we had so many power fluctuations that we were rebooting the router every minute or so.

  we've heard an occasional explosion from transformers locally going out, but so far, we've still got power.

  we're fine, no real loss of power more than a few minutes, though we're still getting gusts and scattered rain.

  btw, I'd rather "pass" on the carpet picnic....well...maybe that tuna will make nice sandwiches....I know the g/kids will gobble up a lot of the canned stuff and cookies and crackers (whew).

  Oh, come on. It'll be fun! I remember my granny sitting on the floor with me when I was little, as I watched Captain Kangaroo on the tele. We ate Oreos and dipped them in milk. I just remember thinking how cool my gramma was to do that with me. My Dad didn't even do that. LOL!
