I LOVE corned beef with cabbage and boiled potatoes. I think that's the Irish in me. And corned beef hash with a fried egg - yummmy! But it's got to be homemade. The canned stuff is disgusting. Blech.

Me too Blondie. But it was the last nail in the coffin for me. I realized then there was nothing truthful about The Truth.

Sorry to hear about the additional pain. But like everyone else said, kudos to your intelligent and caring kids.
My youngest said: "If they don't want to talk with my parents, then they aren't going to talk with me either."
Awesome Scully! Kids see straight through bull-crap like that. Gotta love it!
jgnat,
There's no way I would make this easy on her. Shunning is a cruel practice. If she wants to to hula hoops to avoid talking to you, and look like a circus clown while she does it, let her. Stand in her way, give her eye contact, reach out a warm hand in greeting. Make her work for her blessed beliefs. Let hubby know that you will be at ALL family events, and if grandma wants access to her grandchildren, she is just darned gonna have to get used to it. Good on dad on making sure you are INCLUDED.
You always make me laugh. And this is not something I've ever thought of doing, but I love it!

I loved your post. Thank you so much for sharing. I'm sure it was healing to you, but it's healing to us as well...knowing that reconciliation can be a part of our lives as well. The church I go to is considered a "big" church here in Texas. Several thousand FAMILIES and ou pastor is terrible with names. So Mozz and I invited him and his wife over for dinner one evening and it was wonderful! So nice to get to know him on a more personal level. So now whenever we see him in the halls of the church, he knows us personally. I know if we "slipped through the cracks" that he would be terribly sad and devastated. It feels good to know that someone is watching out for us.
Tons of love and prayers,
Andi

Richie - congrats! Target is one of my favorite stores. Just smile and try to help people as much as you can. Part of the reason I love Target is the people are always friendly.
Good luck! Sorry you have to miss all those meetings. Nahhh.

To make matters worse, my husband is a horder! He hates to throw away anything!
Eeks! I've married one of those too. Mozz still has love notes from his little summer camp girlfriend in the 3rd grade in his memory box. LOL! Or maybe I should say "one of his memory boxes"! Seriously, the guy has like 4 boxes all 2 by 3 feet that are filled with stuff from childhood, high school and college. WTH? But he is terribly sensitive and sentimental, which is one of the things I love about him. So if a few boxes of memories is the worst baggage that comes with him, I guess I have nothing to complain about.

Worldly people are...
by mrsjones5 in.
insert any racist thought or saying you have ever heard after "worldly people are...".. i say this because earlier this morning i was thinking about things i have heard from my parents, extended family, and so-called friends about how evil or nasty worldy people are and if you think about it you can insert "worldly people" into any racist phrase and it would sound like something a jw would say.. i called that religious bigotry.. josie

I sold a small part of a business I owned to a witness bro from another cong shortly after being df, and when we were discussing something he slipped the word "f**cking" into a sentence. I nearly said "what?" I was sure he thought that just because I was now out of the truth that kind of language was acceptable. Of course, I'm not quite so innocent now myself, but thought it was kinda weird at the time.
It's funny you mentioned this, because now as an adult (an exJW adult) my father feels completely comfortable cursing around me. Now I don't have virgin ears or a virgin mouth by any means, but it's just strange hearing my dad say $#!+ and @$$, when growing up we weren't allowed to say SHUT UP or STUPID. LOL!

Why is it...
by Angharad inthat when your cat is going to be sick they do it in the most difficult places to clean?
ours has done it regularly, starts making that noise and you jump up to shoo her our and she spews 2 inches away from the kitchen floor or the outside right on the carpet.
she has just really excelled herself this time she has just thrown up into a box of lego pieces

LMAO! We have two cats and a dog, so I understand. I guess it's hard for a kitty to scratch their butt with those claws.

Snowboarding
by Jordan inany snowboarders here?
i recently got into snowboarding, i've had a few hours on a dry slope, just wondering if there's any tips you guys got for us newbies.

I LOVE to snow-ski! Not too good at it, but do the occassional blue/black. I enjoy the whoosh of the wind in my face and the scenery. Mozz enjoys the whoosh in his face at 90 miles an hour. When we go on vacations together, rarely do we ski together. I move to slow for him and he enjoys the tough stuff to much.
