just wondering if this happened to any of you.
did you ever go to the service group and be assigned to the different car groups.....and then....the sister that is assigned to go with you...decline and say...'i am just going by myself today and do my return vistits by myself'..... damn, i should have complained about that one!

You are a guest on this forum. If you do not like it, I suggest you go somewhere where things do not make you so angry. Either that or do not be so judgemental of people you do not know one iota about. We will respect your choice to be a JW...we will not criticize YOU, but you might consider reciprocating the same ideal. Should you decide to stick around, you will realize you could learn a lot and make some friends. We really are a good lot of people!

I agree - I think it's a healthy thing to do in most circumstances. For me while growing up, eating dinner together was a very stressful event. My parents always hounded me on what I wasn't doing, what I wasn't being...they spent a lot of time arguing. It was basically the time to be critical of one another and duke it out. My husband on the other hand grew up in a household where that was the one time during the day where criticizing wasn't allowed. You could share your heart and mind and not worry about getting in trouble for it. Thus it opened up the kids to share what they needed to mom and dad. Thus, to this day, all three kids in his family are very close to their parents. (My hubby comes from one of those families that I always envied growing up!) It's the type of atmosphere I hope to give my child someday.
Realizing I might step on some toes here...
I think too many people think the "uncomfortableness" or "boringness" of eating dinner together, could be doing themselves and their families a disservice. If it's uncomfortable, get over it. Good things aren't always comfortable. But they become comfortable in time with practice. If it's boring, perhaps it's because the common ground isn't established to become interesting. How is that fixed by continuing to not talk? This is purely my opinion and...

i just had a visit from my sister friend from my former cong, one of the few who still speaks to me.
the elders have been counselling her against having any contact with me, but she has chosen to ignore them.
after the school and service meeting last week, they took her on one side and really laid the law down regarding contact with me, even threatening a reproof if she continued our friendship.
I hope all goes well for you and your friend!

looks around to see who else is here Nope just me. Kitchen and living room all in one TV and table and computer all in one tooTherefore all of me eats all of my meal in the room
That makes just one less person to fight over the leftovers!
i have a bread machine and have been experimenting with it this week.
my first breads were really dense and heavy.
they were ok but definitely not great.. so i went to the books and they said the liquids need to be lukewarm not cold from the fridge.. so after yet another white bread heavy i just tried a raisin bread recipe.. ok i'm addicted.

Oh goodness! Thank you so much for posting those - you are a DEAR!!! And that last recipe does look like an easy one. I realize this may sound like a dumb question, but how do you make that recipe in a gas oven? I don't have a bread machine,so I'll have to do it the old fashioned way. Does it give any details?

This is something that Mozz and our small group (at church) discussed at length yesterday. We find when we DO sit down to eat, it's on the sofa in front of the TV. So the 8 people (4 couples) in our group challenged each other to sit down together (with no TV!) and have an actual dinner at the dinner table at least THREE times this week. We're studying in our Sunday School class how much time TV robs from our lives...so this is our little "lab" to see what else we accomplish when we eliminate some of the TV watching our lives. We're finding our schedules increasingly busy, so the idea of having children is totally overwhelming to me right now. I can barely remember to feed my cats, how on earth am I going to keep track of a kid???
I'll let you know how it goes this week!

Welcome to the board!!! You're making quite a judgement of a group of people you don't even know. Now that's Christ-like, eh?
Actually, you'll find we're a harmless group of people trying to heal old wounds and find the spirituality we never experienced as JWs. We hope you find some interesting information on this site and make a friend or two in the meantime. Stick around and see what you might learn. I promise we don't bite. Hard.

sometimes i just don't know when to keep my big mouth shut.
today i think finally said enough to get da'd.. for those of you just tuning in, a recap: about 2-3 years i came to realize everything i had been taught as a jw was a load of steaming turds.
since then i have managed to fade away more or less, without incident.
((((Noap)))) I'm so sorry about this. Stories like this just make my blood boil.
