  I too, strongly disagree with this comment. I have yet to have one experience that I consider bad. And I think the reason I haven't had one is because of the way I treat others on this board. I respect their viewpoints even if I do not agree with them. Although I do TRY to refrain from vulgarities and judgementalness myself, if another doesn't do the same, it doesn't mean I'm better than them. We're all imperfect humans, but we are all accountable for our actions - good and bad. I just think that there is a way to be firm, stand up for yourself, make a point and NOT be rude or judgemental about it. When I see rude replies on this board, it is usually because there is something about the original post that was rude or offensive to begin with. I've said it before - the delivery of the message is just as important as the message itself.

  I am usually treated with a lot of respect on this board. Why? I'd like to think it's because I give respect on this board. I firmly believe that others will treat you the way you treat them. If someone treats me like crap, it is all the more reason for me to be kind back. More often than not, the person realizes their words/actions were uncalled for and then begin treating me with respect. Rudeness begets rudeness. Kindness begets kindness.

  Eventually what goes around, comes around. Good and evil. Does anybody disagree?

  the most unfair thing about life is the way it ends.. i mean, life is tough.

  it takes up a lot of your time.. and then you die.

  I've seen this several times via email and everytime I think it's hilarious! I think the original author is George Carlin, who is one of my favorite comedians. A little dirty for my tastes, but he does tell it like it is, which I respect. I wonder what he would have to say about JW's???

  i apologize if this has been previously covered, but i'm new here, and i couldn't find what i'm looking for.. can some of the recent convention attendees please tell me what is the theme of the upcoming fall circuit assemblies?.

  i "walked away" around 1988, and i have not kept up with current jw events.

  can someone explain the yearly schedule/names of conventions/assemblies.

  Welcome to the board! I'm looking forward to hearing your story as to why you left. You'll meet many others here that have some pretty interesting experiences. Some that sound similar to yours and others that are not. But we all learn from each others experiences and try to find comfort and solace in knowing we have found something better. Please understand that your comment...

  ...is a little on the judgemental side and probably NOT going to get you much help. As you can see, this is an ExJW website. Almost all of us are in the same boat as you...we've been emotionally hurt from the WTS and don't have much update detailed info on the organization. But making a comment like this isn't going to facilitate any healing on your part or encourage others to want to help you. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and keep thinking you're a pretty decent person and just a little on the pissed side right now.

  Just something to keep in mind with your future postings: You get a lot further with honey than with vinegar. Although I know it's contrary to the example we've received in the WTS, kindness is never a bad thing.

  i've witnessed these all...unfortunately... this is for all here who aren't jw's or xjw's.

  this is what the jw's r really like.... problem: get rid of the crusty old geezers doing privledges.

  example: the old has-beens who think they are elders and can boss people around.. problem: the thing where u have to ask the elders for everything.. example: in the literature room there was a box of old books, of which were books i needed to plug up gaps in my collection.

  matter of faith and evidence .

  1975 an inspiration: all my life i have held to faith in god and jesus christ.

  when i left the catholic church in the late 1960s it was somewhat painful, but my new found religion of jehovahs witnesses seem to be the "right thing at the right time" given the social and family unrest at the time.

  Amazing,

  I've always been fond of reading your posts. You have a style that is logical and yet emotionally honest and refreshing. It reminds me a lot of my 52 year-old father who is still a JW, albeit inactive. My prayer is that one of these days, God show him the Real Truth. But until then I just read your posts and miss my Daddy.

  did you used to get people in your cong that were more sensitive to the demonic influences than others.some people just used to get bad feelings about an innocious piece of music.a tears for fears song did it for one of my old friends.then there are others that sense a satanic presence around inanimate objects.. satan was everywhere and in everything.kate bush was a witch - so was the girl out of fleetwood mac.some records had secret messages that if you tilted your head and turned three times said "worship satan" .

  there probably are such messages in metal music but they used to be so paranoid it reached ridiculous levels.

  I remember my Dad not letting me listen to The Police's song "Every Breath you Take". He said it was a song coming from Satan's viewpoint. Haha! Another one was "Flashdance" by Irene Cara. I remember Dad saying, "Can't you hear the demonic rhythm?!" I still crack up over it!
