Prepping for a Far-Off Armageddon?

this little item from the 08 sept 2001 awake!

caught my eye, making me think that as the "generation" ages and the tower becomes more and more mainstream, the need for armageddon to come soon "to bring to ruin those ruining the earth" may not be so urgent:.

Hey! I take that personally! I am not originally from Texas - moved here about 4 years ago - and I LOVE it! And I'm orginally from Hawaii. There's a bumper sticker I've seen that says "I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could". That's me!

What's good about Texas?

?Anyone read CoC and not been affected?

It definitely was the last nail in the coffin for me. I read it and had NO DOUBTS that the JW religion was a cult. NO QUESTIONS! Before the book, I always had those lingering thoughts:

"What if it IS the true religion? What if Armageddon DOES come?"

Now those questions and guilty feelings are totally gone. It also helped resolve a lot of the bitterness and anger I've harbored towards my parents. Now I just feel sad for them. I see that their actions are based off a mind-controlling cult. I want to help them escape.

A Question thats troubling me........

"this good news will be preached for a witness to all the inhabited nations and then the end will come" nobody else is preaching any good news as far as i can see?

I disagree with the thought that JWs are "preaching" more or better than others. The church I attend is very involved in preaching. They use different methods than what JW's use, but they are effective none-the-less. How do they do it? Evangelizing in nursing homes, orphanages, and homeless shelters - both in the US and in underpriviledged countries like Romania and Latvia. Ministering to one another (members and non-members alike) through social engagements (non-threatening atmosphere), through Ministry Open Houses (formal atmosphere), and Bible Studies (with no additional literature).

When someone is "speaking" the Good News, that does NOT mean they are "communicating" the Good News. If a person is approached when they don't have a relaxed, open mind and heart, you are wasting your breath! I like the fact that our church takes a daily living approach to the Good News. It's non-confrontational - more people listen because we aren't FORCING it on them. I am proud of the fact that even though my church DOES NOT have a door to door system, that we "minister" to one another in ways where people are willing to listen. I think that is what God looks for.

Body Piercing

i just had my navel pierced yesterday.

can i just say ow?!!

the place i chose to have it done was a little on the scary side, clean but weird!

I got my navel pierced about 9 years ago, before it was the craze. Like others, it was a total act of rebellion. My parents would have freaked. I also did it because if I didn't like it I could just take it out. But I love it! I change out my navel jewelry like I do my earrings. Last summer I finally got the courage to get a tattoo. It's totally for me - nothing to show off. A small blue kanji symbol that means "born again into a life of vitality". It's on my tailbone. You can't see it at all, even if I wear a thong.

Update on Wife, my move, etc

thanks for your thoughts and well wishes.

liza made it through the surgery ok. it turned into a 3 1/2 hour surgery instead of the 2 hours they predicted, oh well.

she ended up losing one of her ovaries out of the deal.

I'm glad to hear that all is getting better with your wife. You sound like a great husband! When I'm totally stressed out, the best thing my boyfriend does is hug me and tell me he loves me. He is truly my anchor in the storms. Not enough men in the world with character and compassion like that. I hope all your travels are safe!

Welcome to the board! Interesting story. I do believe there is more to this world than humans can "see" and understand. I agree with Dave. Keep an open mind and heart. Listen to your gut though. That's where I can always "sense" when things are right or wrong. But to go along with Logical's comment...be careful. There are ways where people can get history and information on us without us knowing about it. Just be careful!
