  Worldy friends vs. JW friends........

  just thinking out loud here.... when i was 19 and df'd for being pregnant (yes they knew i was repentant but told me i was to be used as an example), i ended up with no friends.. when i was 20, some four months later, and i was reinstated before my daughter was born, i thought for sure everything would be fine.

  after all, hadn't i been reinstated?

  wasn't i a valued member of the congregation?.

  My experience with "friends" has been very similar to yours. The majority of the JW friends I've ever had have been fairweather friends. Only a handful have been true friends that still hugged and spoke to me after my DF. Only time and distance has separated us - not the DFing. Like Joel - I still hold those handful of people close to my heart and wish only the absolute best for them! But I've have had some great "worldly" friends that have taken me in and treated me like family. They've treated me better than my natural family EVER did! I'll tell ya...I hold onto those friends like nothing else too! My experiences have definitely made me realize what true friendship is and what kind of friend I am. I hope that I am as good as the ones you take care of you! You're truly blessed!!!

  I'm sorry about that. It seems with the WTS, it's the children that ultimately end up losing out.

  But sneaking behind her back to have a birthday party will only reinforce her thoughts that you are doing something "wrong". Have the party. Let her know you're having it. And then ask her for suggestions on what to say to your son when she doesn't show up.

  Road rage episode

  ok.. for those of you who may not know me from previous posts, all i can say is this is unusual for me and please do not judge me as a person for it.

  for the other friends who know me by such, please take this into consideration when you read this.

  i would like to get some feedback on this, perhaps from some of the folks from the martial arts threat joel started recently, especially if you have also read my other posts.. (hopefully a well balanced combo).

  Whenever someone is obviously pissed at me on the road, I act like they're a long lost friend. Acting all happy and motioning my hand (in a telephone-like signal) for them to call me. The whole time I'm smiling and waving like a lunatic. It usually is enough to calm or confuse them. Either way they leave me alone. ((())) Heehee!

  I AM A DISSAPOINTMENT TO MUM

  my dad was telling me today that i am a big dissapointment to my mum.. it seems the feels that all her years of rearing us are a waste of time,.

  because her three kids dont go to the meetings.. she drew parralels to another family, in our hall, and said we all the same.. the other family has four kids, three of whom are/were drug dealers.. one was driven out of the country by terrorists because of it.. the other is a prick living in a giant house.

  he only talks to you if hes bought.

  I must be in a really foul mood today because these experiences are REALLY pissing me off. Not at you Neil, but at people like your parents. (And my parents for that matter!) For instance:

  Did you mum ever stop to think that rearing you into adults is her OBLIGATION AND RESPONSIBILITY as a parent?!?! It is EVERY parent's responsibility to do their best at raising their child - whether or not they live a life you want once they're adults. Even if she didn't do her "best" - IT IS STILL HER RESPONSIBILITY!!! The fact that's she feels her years are wasted, should feel like a slap in the face to her Jehovah.

  Grrrr!

  Sorry. Venting a little here. Partly because I know my parents feel the same thing, but have at least had the wisdom to NOT tell me. If they ever do tell me I can only imagine going postal on them. Unfortunately, my logical, loving side would probably not be the first thing to come out.

  our anniversary (27 years)is this weekend.

  i've rented a place that has beach access and a hottub (on whidbey island for those in the seattle area).

  Ridiculous trips to the 'back room'

  the posts in the elders meeting thread got me thinking about this, so i've spun it off for into another thread.. were you ever 'counseled' because "some" in the congregation were disturbed by things you said/did/listened to/watched?.

  here is just some of the stupid stuff that the elders brought me in on.

  though they were usually handled through shepherding calls, not in the back room at the kh.. 1: because i decided to change my first and middle names.

  UGH. I couldn't even finish reading this thread. But I'm so thankful it's here. A GREAT reminder as to why I will never go back. How can a "loving" organization be so petty and childish? I feel like screaming!!!!

  I'm so sorry about this! Would it be possible for you (in an almost overly kind/gentle way) ask her why it didn't seem to be an issue when you helped move her? I know expecting rational behavior from irrational people is sometimes a heartache waiting to happen, but is it possible to at least try asking her that? In the very least it might make her realize how conflicting her behavior is.

  Truly, I'm sorry you had to experience this.

  Ranchette - oooh, that IS sexy! Great present! I got POTO tix several years ago from my ex. He brought out this HUGE box for my birthday. I opened it up and it was a black cape with a phantom mask, a single red rose, and the two tickets. Most creative gift I've ever gotten! He told me he'd dress up in the cape and mask after the show. Hmmm...
