What time would it have been over here? I had the odd sensation of the earth tilting yesterday and had to grip hard onto my sofa so I didnt fall off, but then it was probably just my medication.

Am glad you are okay and no it didnt appear to have made the news here today.

What is with the JW hate towards the depressed?

why do they treat the like the have sinned a great sin ( oh wait i might of answered it doh!

) when they are just down a bit..

I just commented on this on another thread - to the effect that really depression never used to be mentioned - even though i'd say 50% of the elder's wives seemed to be suffering from it. Apparently its more dub acceptable now. But i think its because dubs are god's happy people so the depressed dont do well for their image.

sorry it's taken a few days to get this up, been hella busy at work and still recovering from last weekend .

so, here's a quick rundown of my weekends events along with a couple pics.

i will apologize in advance for not having pics of myself, i will post them when i get some.. friday night i got all dolled up and took myself to a metal show.

I am a horror movie junkie!

I love all four Alien movies(strictly speaking its Sci Fi - but then many of the best horrors play upon our fears of an unknown future), The Omen trilogy, Hostel, Saw 1-3 (havent seen 4 yet, but taking offers!), Final Destination 1-3, but favourite of all is Hannibal which I have seen more times than I can count.

i'm sure most of us did that for a period of time, some longer than others.. i think it has changed my personality, especially since i've been a teenager the whole time.. .

I spent all night dreaming really weird nightmares and everyone in them was in halloween costumes. At one point I got locked in a room in a mansion and was trussed up from the ceiling by my ankles and subjected to many terrors indeed. I woke up with aching lungs and chest from hyperventilating through fear. It was like being in my own horror movie.

Then I woke up and went to make some toast and the the toaster sparked and all the electricity went out in my flat so I had to call Carlos the caretaker. Luckily he was nothing like Freddy and showed me how to find and use the trip switches, several times to be sure I had got it.

I probably should have gotten dressed before I called for assistance.

I'll let you know if anything else remotely supernatural happens.

it's been a while since i cared about the current events of jehovah's witnesses.

after leaving, my sadness turned to anger then bitterness, then dismissal.

but recently, it's all come back to haunt me like a bad disease.

I did when I was writing letters for two of my reinstatements. It seems the elders really do like to be appreciated and "glorified" for being that channel of God that gets to mete out the discipline.

However with hindsight I'd have to thank them on account of I would never have met so many people I really love having in my life. And if they hadn't I wouldnt have been at LT and Xena's wedding!

I get what you are saying about the Witness Lite thing. There do seem to be geographical distances as well as a bit of a shift even in the last 20 years. For example someone on this board who lives in US but wife is from Asia found df'ing in the West far more stringent in the whole not being able to talk to family that it is where she comes from. I do remember the school brochure. I do remember how we were sternly discouraged from particpating in any extra curricular activities that could be spent in "theocratic pursuits". I remember how ostracised were those few families brave enough to allow their kids to go to college and uni. I remember how depression was never discussed but how clearly so many were (it seemed elder's wives were prime candidates). They were just "poorly". After all how could Jehovah's happy people be depressed. I remember feeling a fraud when I was told constantly to smile as we walked to assemblies or worse on the field service which I truly loathed. Its changed a bit since then for sure, but perhaps when you are within that constant flow with the drip feed of five meetings and endless circle of study and ministry you just don't notice it.

i thought crumpet's thread was really interesting and that everyone was really supportive in their answers.

then i thought about what words would describe me - i imagine lots of folks thought that.

i used to have in my profile "short fat ugly old and mean" which was a joke but offended someone...currently i would described myself as tired and a little crabby and inclined to be unsympathetic, which was always my husband's complaint about me anyway.
