i know that i asked before whether or not you thought i should talk to them again.
but i can't help feeling so guilty as to how things were left.
i know that they are at fault for us not having a relationship but i feel like the last words we say to each other shouldn't be mean just in case something should happen to one of us.
love11 - I just wanted to say that I would probably not contact my sisters. My parents are one thing - my sisters another. If my parents found me tryign to contact my sisters (who still live at home) I think they might close up shop.
Whilst I had a nice response - it only means the door is ajar for future gentle attempts at communication.

okay...so many of you know that i have two stepdaughters....great kids, 7 and 9. currently they are living with us.
now, when they, or one of them is with their mom, it is like pulling teeth to get her to answer the phone or call back when we leave a message to talk to the girls.
there was one period of time that my husband went almost 10 months without getting to talk to his oldest daughter when she was with her mom.

We've got walkie-talkies for that purpose.
We have walkie talkie's too, but they are big bulky objects (which have been decommisioned and are now used to tell me when my dinner is ready when I'm out in the garden writing!). Also the phone fits snugly into her jeans pocket. It was just a hand me down - it wasn't bought specially for her. We wouldn't let her have one permanently until she's a teenager and paying for it herself. We just basically use it as a walkie talkie, so we know exactly where she is and as for her she feels she's got a little measure of responsibility and independence.
And when she and her (big thumbed) father went for a little holiday the other day it was nice for me to get little postcard texts telling me what they were doing, while I was stuck in the office!
i have some awful friends.
loud, demanding, boorish, mean, cantankerous, boozy, critical, flirtatious, foul-mouthed and generally obnoxious in every possible way.
but they're still my friends.
That whole point about loving people for their weaknesses as well as strengths is definitely the key EM. I have got a whole ream of disfellowshipped friends - they did a little thing wrong so I stopped speaking to them. In fact I noted I had a habit - this was generally a year and then I would get back in touch with said bewildered friend and hook up again. I now realise this is ridiculous!
But I've been taught how to be a friend by my friends who forgive me the most apalling things when I am drunk, like taking my clothes off, being sick, being horrible, or being overly emotional. They just laugh about it and move on and that's what i try to do now instead of being an unforgiving monster!

Well my step daughter is 9 and she has a mobile phone when she is with us. Her mother doesn't know about it I don't think although the little girl is free to tell her. She is not permitted to use it for telephone calls (except for emergencies) because of the ongoing invesitigations into links between brain damage amongst children using cell phones. She is allowed to use it to text us when she is playing outside the house and wants to bring friends in or go to a neighbour's house.
It is for her safety and for fun but not something she has permanently.

ibsa charged wtbts = 4million for accomodation and 'other facilities' for volunteers...are we to assume this is for the bethelites.....it doesnt cost 4million to house the volunteers and feed them does it??
the wtbts paid close to 0.75 million in management and administration....so that means that the management of the company earn close to 3/4million between them????

now that i'm finally back, having got my report out of the way for the current stage of my studies, i thought it about time i posted an update of my travels.. i recently had a "wee jolly" away from the island that wasn't without incident.. i left in the wee hours of the morning on friday 1st april, and i can assure you that catching a boat at 6:30am, with a poor weather forecast, is no joke.
having said my hellos to some fellow passengers, that i recognised, i decided to catch some zzzzzeds on one of the couches.. i awoke about three hours later, and rushed downstairs to the galley to get a big-ass full traditional breakfast (complete with black pudding, but no beans ).
after guzzling it down, the boat was near port, so i decided to splash some water on my face before heading down to the car deck.
Finally - we know what you were up to. Sounds like a fun week apart from the journey home!

i remember being told, that resurrected ones would't be allowed to get married, although the great crowd who lived through armageddon could get married if they wished to.. .
I remember being taught this when I was only 5 or 6. I remember crying myself to sleep and praying to Jehovah that there would be no accident that would cause my parents to die before Armageddon becuase they wouldn't be able to live in the same house in paradise. It terrified me - the same way I suppose divorce does for other children.
i remember going to sunday meetings...the public talks went by fast (sometimes).
but the watchtower study to me was so boring and not interesting at all.
it felt longer than the public talk.
What I hate, is when the meetings exceed 2 hours. Most of the times I went, the meetings never finished on time.
JH - I used to prepare answers to every question - including the review ones at the end - just so the meeting couldn't over run while the conductor waited for someone to put their hand up!
do you socialize with your neighbors?
everyone knows how we as a religious group only socialized with each other, then when inside the hall, we only associated with a select few, those who were deemed worthy of our association.
now that you are out, or in varying degrees of staying within the borg, are you allowing yourself to get out and mingle amongst those in your community?
Prophecor - I shall bouncing home from work in five minutes with a very big smile on my face for all my neighbours to enjoy. You are right - I should love my neighbour as myself - bazookas included!
