For those who chose not to have kids--any regrets?
by Alpaca inwhen i was younger i didn't really have any second thoughts about deciding not to have kids.. when i think about the great relationship i had with my non-dub dad, i now wish that i had at least one child.. the decision was based on the borg's encouragement to put "spiritual interests" ahead of personal interests.
this is just one more of the long-lasting detriments to my life caused by the borg..

A husband walks into Victoria 's Secret to
purchase a sheer negligee for his wife.
He is shown several possibilities that range
from $100 to $500 in price; the more sheer, the higher the
price. Naturally, he opts for the most sheer item, pays
the $500,and takes it home. He presents it to his wife and asks her to go
upstairs, put it on, and model it for him. Upstairs the wife thinks (she's no dummy), 'I have an idea.
It's so sheer that it might as well be nothing. I won't put it on, but I'll do the
modeling naked, return it tomorrow, and keep the $500refund for myself.'
She appears naked on the balcony and strikes a pose.
The husband says, 'Good Grief! You'dthink for$500, they'd at least iron it!'He never heard the shot.
Funeral on Thursday at Noon. Closed coffin.

"The Terror"

i now only read a few pages at a time because the atmosphere of the story has become so...heavy.
this book may not appeal to many but it has got me.

i just finished it. great book! it also took me a while to read it, but worth the effort. dan simmons has a new one out, called "droon", again a novel with true historical backgroung dealing with charles dickens(i think). im going to buy it today. it, too, has about 800 pages. i'll tell you how i liked it around may 2010. also, if you want a good read, but much "lighter", try "beat the reaper", by john bazell. a good romp, but a bit gruesome, esp. towards the end, but fun.

As a JW Did you Feel you Could Fully Trust the Elders ?
by flipper ini know for many of the 44 years i was in the jw cult from birth - i felt i could.
or should i say i was conditioned to feel that " i should " trust the elders.
as jehovah's witnesses we were all told the elders were " crags in a waterless country " who would be a " spiritual stronghold " for us.

Was there any particular song or music u were not allowed to listen to because it was inappropriate or it was deemed demonized?
by jetery ini remember there was this heavy metal group called wasp.
some of the witnesses said it stood for we are satans people and that wasnt even true.
stairway to heaven by led zeppelin was a no-no because they said if u played it backwards it talked about worshipping the devil.

for some reason, my dad made me throw away black sabbath.....who would ever get the idea they were demonized? i have all their stuff now. oops! my head just did a 360! sorry! and steppenwolf had a song called "the pusher" and the chorus said "god damn the pusher man". frisbee material. uriah heep.....frisbee material. santana....frisbee material....yes, my dad actually threw them like a frisbee! blue oyster cult, rush(the demonic man in a pentagram!!! not), the beatles, queen(made you smoke dope!!!), led zeppelin(don't play it backwards!! ok. how about foewards!?) who came up with the lame brained idea that if you put lyrics backwards on an album your brain could, automatically, reverse it(like the retina does images) the lyrics so the brain could understand it? how stupid can you be?!? oh yeah, kiss was demunized too!
