Apart from my parents, people were just glad to see me go as I was creating trouble with the other young people in the congregation. Did your leaving create a ripple or a tidial wave.

The election roll in New Zealand has all the names and address of all New Zealanders of voting age. The New Zealand embassy should have a copy. It could tak ea while because ames are listed city by city.

Embarassed about JW relatives?
by greendawn indo you feel embarassed if people know that you have jw relatives given the many and well known strange ideas they embrace eg about blood transfusions and the belief that all non jws will be killed soon?
do you feel reluctant to admit that you have such relatives?

This might be going off on a tangent but sort of fits. My sisters father in law died a couple of weeks ago. Both my sisters and our brother, left the troof as we left home. However my sisters sister in law and her new husband are JW's, came in as adults and live in another town. At the funeral they mention a few things about seeing loved ones again, but all our family just smiled and walked away. (my sister had asked us not to reveal we had once been witneeses in case of problems). So at the reception afterwards , they kept trying to make conversation with us, but trying to lead to the usual witness advertising, and we kept ignoring it and changing the topic. The person that had died was 86 and had been in pain for 2 years, it wasn't a sad death but one of closure. I think trying to flog off religion at a funeral where people are vunerable is in very bad tase.

Tell your coworkers you're no longer a witness?
by Dune inwell, when i first started working at my current place of employement, i was (still am) a witness.
i went through a whole year of having to explain over and over why i didnt vote, why i didnt celebrate birthdays, thanksgivings, christmas and why i couldnt take part in lotteries and all the rest of that crap.
i'm two years into the job and now it doesnt present a "problem" anymore.

I have a suggestion, here in New Zealand on your birthday you "shout" that is supply morning or afternoon tea for co workers. If you do this for your birthday, they will be pleased with the "shout" and just accept that things have changed for the better.

Tactic to bring it down, get people in.
by jwfacts ini was just eatting breakfast and thought of an idea to make the congregations less desirable to be in.
if jws can not/don't want to see through the doctrine, maybe filling the congregations with undesirables will make them think twice about going to meetings.
maybe we should do an advertising campaign to the mentally ill, tell them that meetings are filled with people longing to be their friends.. advertise to the cleptomaniacs that there are plenty of trusting people that leave their bags around.. tell young men that there are plenty of gullible virgins that still have a 1950's view of male superiority and headship.. and all they have to do to become a member is pretend to go preaching 10 hours a month for 6 months.

Living in NZ I can recommend it. In Sept we are comng out of winter its not so cold it snows everywhere just on the ski slopes. The north Island can get cold but the South Island you could get some brill spring days with just a lite chill.

I won a small lottery it enabled me to not work for a couple of years, travel Africa and Europe. Parents had alway taught me not to buy raffle tickets and so I used to give a donation. One woman insisted on giving me a ticket. Mum and Dad didn't say a word. My picture made it to the local paper. I guess I was no longer used as an example on how people are bad and have a hard life when they leave the "toof"

Who threw your first birthday party after leaving the organization?
by Mysterious inwho threw your first birthday party after you left the organization, or did you throw it for yourself?
my best friend threw mine, it was my 18th birthday.
she made a huge homemade cake for me with all 18 candles and icing.

I threw my first. I had just moved into a flat so had my 21st there. As I worked for an electrical firm, so plenty of men, went to the early hours of the morning. Neighbours complained but a good time had by all who attended.

Will Jehovah prevent men from going to Mars?
by truthseeker in.
a few of the friends i have spoken to over the years seemed to think that jehovah would never allow man to leave the planet and visit another.. "we have to get this planet right first", they said.. i thought at the time, perhaps the furthest man would be allowed to go would be the moon.. recently, president bush announced a new space initiative for nasa - first the moon by 2017, then mars by 2020-2030.. what are your thoughts?.

Why would jehovah bother. If he is looking for things to do poverty and famine are still on going and don't forget sickness.
