Sorry I just see it (feel it) as the cost of travel. I also think that privacy is becoming an outdated concept.

How many of you atheists, agnostics, deists are celebrating Xmas??
by SweetBabyCheezits inwe are celebrating xmas this year for the first time.
it's kinda weird because, even though we're doing a xmas tree, decorations, gifts, we're more or less taking the christ out of christmas.
so how about the rest of you non-christian heathens?.

Me Me Me.
I have a tree with a train running around it with a pile of decorations. I don't care about the religious crap etc its all about fun. Nothing says fun like getting and giving presents. I am banned from getting up before 6 am to open the presents.
At the age of 48 I spend a day behaving like a child who never had christmas and boy do I make up for it now

Let's settle this for once and for all...... is atheism a belief, a non-belief or an anti-belief?
by Quillsky inmy opinion is that atheism is not a belief.
it is a belief in no belief..

I am going for a great big I DON'T CARE what it is. To me its all just a little irrelevant, it does not matter. When out socially and this topic and the belief in God discussion comes up for me its like watching paint dry.

My parents are both dead. When they talked end of the world , I gave them a particular look and said "I bet you when 1975 comes you will be laughing" I said this up until 2002 when they stopped saying any c***p like that and as they got close to dying there was a saddness never spoken that the big A had never come and they had missed out on so much.

Have you ever considered completely abandoning the people in the so-called "Truth"
by gubberningbody inthey seem quite content to do that to you.
why not just let them live their futile, dysfunctional lives and let time be the judge?.

Done. Parents both passed, no family or extended relatives in. The only connection is my sisters sister in law, (her husbands sister) who converted 10 years ago She still does not know own family history and my sister has threated me if I talk. So we just avoid the whole subject and if she insists on bring up religion I ask innocently if thats the one that said the world was going to end in 1975. She disagreed I said we ought do a search on the net and she dropped it ( I think she did not want to start talking about Satan controlling, evil apostates etc) So any family meals with her are such fun playing cat and mouse with my sister and her sister in law.
Back to the question. Abandoning is not the right description. I have nothing in common with these people. I have 4 papers left to complete a bachelors with a double major. A wonderful husband and a great social life. I have fun hobbies, beekeeping, quilting and recently machine knitting. They seemed to have stopped still, slowly walking the streets, saying the same old thngs waiting for life to happen. To be honest after speaking to the witnesses I always feel better and they seem sadder and older.

Would the world be a better place without Atheism/Religious-ism?
by AK - Jeff inmy thread here: http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/197200/5/atheists-do-you-ever-talk-to-god has taken a decidedly new twist.
one that has made me think it prudent to discuss a related matter.. would the world be a better place if all atheism was gone?
would it be a better place if all religion were gone?

My take on it. It would be good to hear people justify there actions without reference to God, bible etc and then realize how stupid there behavior really is. Maybe then the world would be a better place if they have logical reasonable arguments for there actions.

What happens when a elderly dub is put into a care home?
by highdose inspeaking from my experiance i have seen no less than 10 elderly jw's put into old age care homes and promptly forgotten about!.
no visits from their "loving shepards" no vists from their spritual family.
they were left to rot out of sight out of mind.

My dad starved himself to death. He was dumped in the rest home by my mother. I did not have the courage to tell him he could catch a taxis home at any time, because the truth was the home treated him better than my mum did. As for the witnesses all talk and no action. People my Father considered life long friends never came. Two "worldly" friends visited regularly and a couple of old witnesses only. The only one he could discuss his religious beliefs with was the Presbyterian minster that came once a week. He came to realize that his whole life was a waste. His children had all left the Witnesses, his wife hated him and the church that he devoted his life too did not give a f****k. So he stopped eating except when his wife came to visit (occasionally). It took two months until they put him on morphine . I could see the internal organs moving under a parchment like skin. He died the next day.

as a child i don't think we think about theological problems so what tipped you off?
