just wanted to share some exciting info on a recent experience of a witness couple.
their young baby very unfortunatly was struck with leukiemia and requiered a blood transfusion to save its life.
fortunatly the parents had enough sence and logical reasoning to save their babys life by listening to the medical staff and proceeded with the transfusions.
Absolutely great news! Let's hope that theparents' decision remains confidential so that no elders go snooping around.
I have long suspected that perhaps more JWs than we may realise "quietly" agree to a transfusion. When a child is involved, I applaud the parents loving sense in putting the child's wellbeing above a stupid death-inviting belief.
every once in a while i enjoyed a public talk that featured a very good speaker.
most meetings i was thoroughly bored.
especially was i bored with the baby food pablum that was force fed to us.
I used to get an adrenalin surge when one of the elders walked up to the platform towards the end of the meeting, faced the congregation with an inexpressive countenance and made a crisp and curt announcement. That surge grew tenfold when the announcement was about a brother or sister being reproved or disfellowshipped.
The hush in the congregation that followed was worth the wait. And, just after the meeting, dying to know some of the details, the brothers and sisters hung around longer than usual, hoping against hope that they'd find out something juicy.
i would have gotten baptised at the first "special assembly day" but i got sick just a few days before.
so i got baptised at the d.c.that same year instead.
i regret it, but at the time i thought i was doing the right thing, i sincerely believed i was dedicating my life to serving god.
I was 17, the year was 1971, the end was coming real soon, I was clinally depressed and I was in no state to get baptised, but not one adult in the organisation, including my grandparents, had the horse-sense to see that I first needed to "sort" myself out before taking the plunge. Too late: I went under the water and everything changed. The end (of the world) justified the means.
I regret it.
I should have been at least in my 20s before making such an important decision, especially given the consequences once baptised; that is, they could now disfellowship me if I disobeyed them.
ask yourself the question "do i have the kind of personality that is attracted to a strong person or entity that speaks with authority, and is very assertive?".
most of us just want to follow the leader.
it makes us feel protected and secure.
I was raised in the religion and was 27 when I finally realised that I did not believe it. I think I would have left earlier than that if the earlier ex-Jw literature had been accurate about the JWs.
Before I left, I had read a lot of anti-JW stuff written by evangelical Christians. Trouble was, a lot of it was written by people who used almost anything to "prove" the JWs were demonic, mixing hype with hysteria.
Only when the likes of Ray Franz got kicked out in the early 1980s did the expose-type literature on the JWs accurately and empathically convey what it was like in the religion.
while cleaning cupboards today, i had court tv on in the other room, listening to the commentary about the mj trial.. i was pretty surprised when they started talking about his going back to jehovah's witnesses and that he had taken his children to a kingdom hall in solvang (near where he lives) around easter time.
so it was for the memorial.
they said that since then, he has been attending pretty regularly with his kids, but that because he is disfellowshipped (and they had this information correct, saying he wrote a letter disassociating himself many years ago, but that he is technically disfellowshipped) no one will talk to him.. so, is he trying to make a comeback?
Yet another reason to rejoin the JWs: Impression management. I should be used to it by now, but the correlation between men facing allegations of child sex offending and (re)joining religious groups is depressingly high.

Interesting that it is from the Finnish edition of the Kingdom Ministry. Scandanavian countries were among the earliest countries in the world to report ongoing decline among active JWs, decline that is continuing right up to the present, judging by the latest Watchtower figures. These countries sure are hurting!

many of these prophesied dates have since come and gone.. people look around and see the possibility of many different natural or man-made disasters by which the end could come.
Why is a forceful and punishing end to the earth assumed to be an example of divine retribution when our daily experience tells us that repressive and unprincipled regimes are responsible for forcefully ending people's lives (i.e., by invading other countries or acts of terrorism)? I think I know the answer: When humans do it, it's bad, but when a "Superhuman" does it, it's a loving and justified gesture. The principle as always: Might is right.

With a big thumping watchtower peering over the structure, the new owners of the building will have their security needs all taken care of. There's literally nothing like a watchtower to monitor what's going on both in and outside of the building.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: The older I get the more convinced I am that I will end before the world does. Each generation thinks it is the last and tries to select the "evidence" that proves it. Who can forget reading about Charles Taze Russell who, when he was in his twenties, believed so fervently that the end was near that he stated that it was his and other Christians duty to directly warn all humanity of the impending end. All that rushing around for nothing...he died decades later on a sad train trip somewhere in the USA around about 1916, I think.
i was recently being ragged on my a jw friend and he was raggin on me for not goin to the meetings.
he said i am foresaking the gathering of ourselves.
i then said where in the bible does it say i must attend 5 meetings a week spread over 3 days?
what happens if you were born missing a finger? or a finger got choppped off?
Easy to answer: You only have to attend 4 meetings a week. Almost worth losing a finger for that - that is, if you can't find any other way to fade...
