Field Service is a Farce
by swiftbreeze ini touch on this subject in another post but i felt the need to take it further...back in the day jw's went out in fs but i don't know about today.... i live in a big city....the territory my congregation has is small because there are so many cong.

my ex husband and i would go to the meetings and hear talk about fs and all the wonderful and experiences and the joy oh joy in being out in the ministry.

If It Is Really 'The Truth'
by Honesty inwhy do jw's spend so much time judging one another and tell the elders when they perceive someone breaking a wt rule?
jesus said that his followers would be recognised for the love thay had among themselves.
so, what gives with this watchtower religion?

"You must respect my authoritay!" (ever watch South Park?)
Well observed! I think that Paul was blinded by the light but unfortunately remained as blind as a bat and effectively turned the first century Christians into legalists and sectarianists.

The foundation of the JWs intolerance of other's beliefs is the Bible itself. Just check out what the apostle Paul said about other early Christians who did not accept his authority.
He sure as hell wasn't all lovey-dovey towards them and he spoke bluntly about the need to get rid of those whose practices went against his interpretations of good and bad.
I do not condone the loveless things that JWs and other religions do in the name of the founder of Christianity. But I don't fool myself either, by thinking that they have strayed into a totally new way of practising Christianity.

Dubs putting smiley faces and scriptures on notes they send you.
by LongHairGal ini am not necessarily referring to the scriptures they quote in greeting cards.
although this is enough to make you barf because it makes the person sending it out to be so "spiritual" (whether they are or not) and also it makes a false impression that they love you (whether they do or not).
what i am really referring to is when one of them needs a favor from you and they send you a note and put a smiley face at the bottom and quote some scripture.

How Do You React When Someone "Gives You A Shot"?
by minimus inif someone tries to ridicule you or put you down, how do you respond?
-
steve2
If someone is earnestly and repeatedly trying to justify cruelty or lack of compassion towards others, and they look at me and say, "Are you offended by what I'm saying?" I might say something like:
"No, I'm not offended. I just think less of you."

love JW and alway's will but im a fully devoted mormon
That's a very brave thing to admit. You have my admiration.
By the way, I knew a man once who associated with the Seventh Day Adventists for one week then left. He referred to himself as a Seventh Day Adventurer and spellcheck just wouldn't leave him alone.

The JW on the left is more reprehensible than the one on the right: His glasses are very 1970s - teardrop shaped with oversized frames. He needs to update them immediately to something that incorporates a sleeker design such as smaller frames.

I read on a JW site that they do phone field service now. I wonder where they get the names and phone number from ?
I suppose it's easier to fake phone field service than it is to fake door to door...unless the brothers want to examine your phone bill!
My impression was that everyone exaggerated the amount of time they spent in the field serive, especially those doing some form of pioneering. When they related their field service during the meetings, they conveyed a totally different impression about what happened going door to door than what actually occurred. We're all human, I guess, and prone to a bit of exaggeration; but what really got to me was the routine faking that made up a lot of the preaching work. Mistakes are one thing, but habitual exaggeration and prefering to do preaching where less actual time was spent witnessing (e.g., rural areas).
