Or did he simply say to "keep doing this in rememberance of me?" To me, this statement leaves open any timeframe as to when you could observe the memorial of his death. It could be once a week, once a month, every other year, every ten years, etc., etc. Just as long as it was remembered in one regular form or another.

Those are my feelings on it as well. And didn't they eat and drink it, not pass it?? At the memorial last year, I was taken back by that. I thought, wtf? IMO, Catholics got this more correct than jw's.

my mother and i have been going back and forth about meeting attendence.

i don't feel i have to go to meetings to be a follower of god (of course i don't believe the witnesses have the truth either), but one step at a time.

i told her heb.

Do you know of any scriptures that tell you not to go to the meetings, or that you can worship Jehovah on your own? I would be very interested in those.

Me: "Mom, do you know of any scriptures which says this is regarding religion, meetings, or anything that is conducted by someone with a title? You say you have the truth so show it to me."

Or: "Mom, I don't know of ANY scriptures that tell me to go to meetings!!"

Need a little advice on calorie counting and weight loss

i just started working out again over the last month after a layoff of about 10 years.

so my questions are how can i find out how many calories a 280 pound guy burns off just doing everyday activities?

how do i determine how many calories i need to take in to maintain the muscle i have but still burn off fat?.

Rant about the term "WORLDLY"!!!!

my husband was talking at the table with his young adult daughter last night.

for those of you that don't know, he is a long time witness, and his children are of course witnesses also.

we were married when he was df'd, and i knew all about him being a witness and wanting to return.

I hate the term worldly. Anytime someone came over w/my conductor for my bible study, my husband was always spoke of and even introduced as "worldy" because he had no part w/jw's. He deserves more respect than that. I just went along with it but was still a little bothered. He's my "worldy, unbelieving mate". Why couldn't they just say "husband" instead?? Because he's not a witness?!

Good points, Jeannie. Their labels are putdowns in dubspeak and they don't like it when they're referred to as a cult. I totally see why now.

i would just like to extend greetings to all those poor souls who had to endure the torturous childhood of growing up in a strict jw lifestyle as i had.

i didn't know that there were such forums on the net, and i was made aware of this by my sister who is also a member here, i believe.. i find this kind of funny really.

We listen here. So does the WT since they seem to discourage everyone at the meetings from having anything to do with this place!
