How to implode your local congregation
by Check_Your_Premises ini threw this out on another thread and someone asked that i give it it's own.
there were other ideas thrown out, but this one is developed enough to merit discussion.
i am not sure how to pull this off.. .

Sounds good to me.
Pretty soon, there will be a talk on "faders", complete with more attempted guilt trips.

I would be shocked, too if it were my grandparents!
We got married when my daughter was 10 months. She was there and in some pictures. My then study conductor and some other (so-called) friends from my cong told me not to tell my daughter about the marriage/birth date subject. That she'd figure it out on her own, but it wouldn't matter by then since we'd already be married.
No way we'd do that. Since she was going to find out eventually, we figured we'd let her know as soon as she can understand even just a little bit, which was earlier this year when we showed her the album. It doesn't matter to me that she'll realize we weren't married when we had her, but at least it won't be a shock.

Children of the 80's!
by MelbaToast inalright, i admit, i was a child of the 80s (or what i can remember) but the real reason for this thread is i have noticed that there is quite a few of people on this site that are close to me in age or just a little bit younger or older.
i will be 28 in june.
i think that this period in my life is a deep questioning period, because at younger ages i didnt give a flip about anything jw or ex-jw for that matter.

In Sept 2004, I was told they are not allowed because it doesn't show submission to men.
And welcome, Onlyme!

My Nan's Pentecostal Funeral
by GetBusyLiving ini got back yesterday from newfoundland, where my nan had just died a little over a week ago.
i was pretty upset that i wasn't able to see her one last time as she had died one day before i got there.
all in all the family held up as well as can be expected.

(((Sheldon))) I'm sorry.
As for the funeral, those are harsh, not to mention untrue words to say to anyone, especially at a funeral. It's too bad he didn't have the brains to just let it be about your grandmother and leave it at that.
"Life is only a dream, isnt it Sheldon? Go on and enjoy your life."
I love that.

Did they try to get you to do prison witnessing?
by LongHairGal ini remember them trying to get a bunch of sisters to go prison witnessing.
i felt very uncomfortable about the whole thing.
i voiced my concerns to an elder and was told we were only witnessing to the women and we were safe.

I would have done it had I become one.
That story about the (I think) Japanese prisoner moved me.
