That depends on what a person defines as "sounding black".

Is It "Wrong" To Say That Someone "Sounds" Black??
by minimus ini saw boston legal this past tuesday and denny crane said he was impressed by the "articulate" man who didn't "sound" black.
this caused an uproar!!!
in a re-run on curb your enthusiasm, larry david makes a comment that's insulting to a black person and has to immediately apologize for being politically incorrect.. your opinion on this question, please..

Some people are just so kind
by fullofdoubtnow inwhen our friend marion was baptised a few months ago, trev and i went to the service, and we briefly met a couple there who have become good friends with marion since she has been attending their church.
they seemed very nice people, and since then have occasionally asked marion how we are.
they gave her a lift to the hospital to see me last thursday, and could see how concerned she was about me, i was very unwell last week.

One thing I've come to appreciate is that each congregation and locality do things differently-----even if published information by the Society says otherwise. Even if the "official" answer is supposed to be a certain thing, many bodies of elders make their rules up as they go along. So seeing the perspectives and experiences of different posters has helped me to see how the "unified worldwide brotherhood" really works.
This is true for me as well. When I was studying w/them, it really mattered to me that jw's everywhere did things the same way. I mean, this was a BIG question of mine during my studies and conversations with those who were "spirtitually strong". I had to be sure this was the case and even would speak about jw's in a positive manner using this very point. Afterall, we were taught how wrong other religions are and how they don't do as the true
worshittersworshippers do, so to find out people in kh's do their own thing anyway came as a big surprise! It took a little while for me to actually believe others' experiences were true, as I was in denial of it all. Also, all of the scandals, especially the UN one. I've learned what really goes down in Bethel....hehe... I've re-learned to see people as people despite differences in opinion. That's another good point about reading this board when you're coming out and/or doubting--you learn to socialize with people 'just because' rather than having to welcome someone, or talk about spiritual things right away. And you can do it at your pace online before meeting in person. -

How far have you come?
by done4good inthe recent thread on veterans made me think of this.
for me, i can now say i am proudly patriotic, hell, i even think being "proud" is a good thing.
these are things that would have seen reprehensible to me as a witness, and even a short while after i left.

GWB kind of sucked out any ounce of patriotic blood left that the jw's didn't. My understanding of those who join the military is back, though. That was once something I was working towards while a senior in high school.
I LOVE birthdays once again, and appreciate people that are different from me.

If the Watchtower ceased to exist right now, what would this mean for you?
by JH inwhat would it change in your life right now if the watchtower fell apart and didn't exist anymore?.
maybe some would want to join another realigion right away, because they still believed a bit of what they preached and didn't want to join a false religion, just as the jw's brand all other religions..... .

Nothing.
It might mean we could see some posters' faces on here that we have yet to see.
It also might mean a few
jw'fairweather' friends would try to reach out to me. -

Is belief in God just "wishful thinking"?
by TheCoolerKing inwhen i was a jw i didn't question the existence of god.
there was no doubt that jehovah or god was real.
occasionally though, i did have doubts.

Did you see "House" last night, anyone? When Dr. Cutie said to Dr. Hottie something to the effect of, "I pray hoping something is there listening?"
