  Jehovah's Witnesses are not a cult and here's why I think so

  when most people think of "cult" they think of the people's temple, the branch davidians, or heaven's gate.

  many also want to put jehovah's witnesses, mormons, and scientologists into this group.

  i don't agree with that because there is one main difference between true cults and high-control groups like jws:.

  The WT Society puts BARS AROUND THE MINDS of their members.

  To be in a mental prison is as bad if not WORSE than a physical prison.

  Their children are not permitted to leave the cult. They are FORCED to obey the organization by their parents.

  Their parents are not permitted to leave the cult because they will lose all their family and friends.

  Family and friends are expected to 'tell on eachother' and in essense betray eachother to the Elders.

  They are not permitted to question the Organization.

  They must all conform to a dress code.

  This is enforced by marking and shunning!

  They are expected to die for their beliefs!

  I could go on and on,.....but I won't!

  In the end, the Jehovah's Witnesses are a Cult and a dangerous one at that!

  Obedience to the Death and a Mental Prison far more powerful than any physical prison could be!

  Personally and with respect, I did not find the first issue of the JW Wacktower to be benign!

  It was 'suggesting' that the only way to happiness was to give up your job and pioneer full time! That's not benign! It's not sensible! It is down right foolish!

  The only way to be happy is to be a full time slave of the WatchTower Society is DANGEROUS!

  Should Jehovah's Witnesses honestly expect people to Respect their Beliefs?

  how can jehovah's witnesses honestly be suprised when someone cannot keep their opinions to themselves and take witnesses seriously when 99.9% of them are loyal to the organization before common sense?

  (the rest of that percentage are here lol).. is this why the society put so much emphasis on the joys of persecution in the name of jehovah?

  because they know that it is being done for all the 'right' reasons?

  Respect is a two way street!

  JWs respect no one else and expect everyone else to be killed by their god soon. So, they do not deserve any respect.

  They do nothing for the community except cause irritation!

  They demand obedience to the death for their members.

  They are totally irrational and lacking critical thinking skills......at all times.

  They are a sad bunch. We should feel pity for them, but respect is just a step too far and NOT something they should be given!

  When push comes to shove, the JWs worship a book publishing company in drag! What's respectful about that! It's just plain weird!

  MC - If this lady had 'just' died of a heart attack, don't you think the WT representatives would have pushed that line when interviewed on Radio 5, and BBC News? They would have known exactly how she died. I suspect she died because of lack of blood and heart failiure but still, we have to wait and see.

  The WT came out all guns blazing and holier than thou over the blood issue. It had to be the cause if the HLC members were involved in the case and they would have reported back to mother.

  The R and F always have to make up stuff as they are the ones that have to suffer the wrath of the general public who are not very impressed at all with this case!

  Hi MC! - The only real facts available at the moment are that she is dead and that she didn't accept a blood transfusion. Her family also turned down the opportunity to give her the blood. It's unlikely that she died 3 days later of a haemorrage as this tends to happen in the first 24 hours. But bleeding out must have been the problem or her husband would not have been complaining about the Cell Saver machine not being used.

  Anything else is just wait and see now!

  The truth of the situation will out in time when the coronor publishes his report.

  One way or another we will find out what happened.

  It is certainly the case in the UK that maternity services are not what they used to be and that in some parts of the country they are described as 'third world conditions', but again everyone has to wait for the coronor's decision now.

  If this lady died because she had no blood then the WTBTS is to blame. If she died because of other reasons, then it will be interesting to see whether they were preventable.

  Does anyone know how long it usually takes for a coronor to deliver his report?

  the watchtower did not wait too long to make factor viii a conscience matter for haemophiliac men.

  i believe it happened inthe late 1970's but i'm sure someone would correct me if i am wrong on the date.. but, the blanket blood ban continues and women are still dying in childbirth unncecessarily around the world because they are jws.

  if the boot were on the other foot, would blood transfusion be a conscience matter by now to keep jw men safe?.

  i understand from news of the world that anthony gough wants to sue the hospital because he feels they were neglient in saving his wife's life.

  Surely, it can never be in the patient's best interest to allow him / her to bleed to death!

  Is that not just common sense....or did I miss something.

  These cases must come to law! This cannot be allowed to continue. JWs can scream 'persecution' as much as they want, but at least those who find themselves in potentially fatal bleeding situations will be alive to scream it!

  visit for a elder/friend) that 2 congo's here in detroit will be contracted.

  it seems that the virginia park and west grand blvd, congregations are to be disbanded.

  Disgraceful!

  If the Society were wanting to make even more money they could pressure congregations who did not need a new hall to attempt to build one. This is what happened locally. The cong did not need a new hall. There was some maintenance needed on the hall yearly but other than that all was well. So, the CO told them they HAD TO HAVE A NEW HALL. From having NO MORTGAGE at all on their hall, they went into a huge mortgage with Mother and are now struggling to pay the mortgage and the bills.

  It is one of the biggest scams on the planet!
