Well, you're not alone any more and what you are suffering at the moment is exactly what all of us have suffered and I can promise you that in time it will all be a lot better.

It's a bit like taking your first faltering steps as an infant and soon you'll be running, walking and skipping like everyone else and to cap it all you're FREE!

Soon, as the anger and disbelief wear off you'll realise for the first time in your life that you are a free agent who can do what he likes and not suffer guilt for not being in 'the truth' or not going to the meetings.

So, like the others have said, hang on in there because, to steal a phrase, 'the best really is to come'!

Hi there!

My first thought of what to say to you was 'RUN!'

But if you're in love that's not so easy.

You must find out everything you can about the JW's before you go any futhur in your relationship.

I was a JW for forty years and wouldn't wish the experience on my worst enemy.

Don't let love blind you to the trap you may fall into here.

Is it possible for you to leave the relationship now, before it's too late.

Why don't you first see what happens and what the reaction is of you sweet heart and her family if you start asking some serious questions.

Why have your rules on the blood issue gradually changed?

What's with the fall of Jerusalem being 586/87 BCE?

What happened, or didn't happen in 1975?

How come Armageddon didn't come before the end of the twentieth century?

The list is endless and if you study up a bit on the sites suggested by others you may be shocked at what you find!

Perhaps I should still suggest 'RUN!' but I can understand why that's not easy.

Update On Husband Troubles

since i burdened you all with my marriage problems earlier, i thought it'd be only fair that i should give you all an update of how things are going.

i feel that my husband and i love eachother very much, but he's so conflicted and divided because his loyalty towards the wtbts is so strong.. we reconciled, cried a lot and had a heart-to-heart talk, long and elaborate.

let all our thoughts and frustrations out in the open.

Trust you instincts here. If you go to the elders, that bunch of asses is then going to start coming inbetween you and your husband and the pressure is going to be seriously on. If they've been badgering him to find out what's the matter with you so far what do you think they're going to do when they find out you don't want to be a JW.

Time to be cautious as a serpent here!

I can't tell you what to do or what I'd do, but you have to work this out with your husband NOT THEM.

he's feeling woozy and sore tonight, but hopefully that will pass in a day or so.

chris says he will probably have to stay in for about a week, but no doubt he will be posting if he can get hold of a laptop.

Strange disfellowshippings!

a few years back a 'sister' in our hall was df'd for marrying a disfellowshipped man.

they were both free to remarry 'scripturally' - in their late-middle years of life.

i asked one of the local pharrasies why?

Who would be so stupid as to go and tell the elders what 'you've been up to' when you're courting.

Bloody Hell! They were probably disfellowshiped for sheer stupidity not hanky panky!

I know of a sister who was disfellowshiped for going out with a brother whose divorce was just about to come through. They were warned not to see eachother till he'd got the final divorce papers. But as love would have it, they wanted to carry on seeing eachother and so they were disfellowshiped.

They never went back to the JW's.

Sensible people in my book!

a little confused....

i've been brought up as a jw, and i am now 20 years old, am away from home at university and have an agnostic boyfriend.

not your ideal jw girl by any means!

all my jw mates are baptised now, and i've managed to hold off til now.

Good for you girl, sticking up for yourself!

I wish I had had the guts to defy my parents and others and not get baptised! My husband feels the same.

Twenty five years ago however, and especially if you had been in the JW's your whole life it was not so easy.

We believed what we were told to believe and didn't want to get into trouble with the elders etc and lose friends, relatives, etc.

If only we had been as strong.

Stick to what you believe and don't believe, for that matter.

If you don't get baptised you'll save yourself a lot of hastle as regards disassociating and disfellowshiping in the coming years and your family will gradually get its head around your new situation.

Well done! Don't worry about it either. It will all pan out.

Funny, but I just hear Candidlynuts say my words.

I too had to see a therapist a few years back about coming to grips with mortality. Like you Candidilynuts I had been brought up to believe that I would never die. I went on to see a psychiatrist for another six months before things straightened out.

Now like all the others I just hope for good things and accept that inevitably death comes to us all so we should live each day as a precious gift and enjoy every moment with the ones we love.

But, and it's a BIG but, I believe that it will be all right. I"m not able to give any evidence of this or even explain what it means but I believe strongly that whatever happens in the end, it will be nothing to fear.

I"ve had a life time of being afraid of Armageddon and 'the end of the system', now I don't 'fear' any more.

I wish I could quote you some solid evidence but I can't. In the end it appears that good does conquer evil,and what goes around comes around. Divine justice, maybe.

GOT A LITTLE STORY TO TELL YA.

my wife and i live in a rather small town.

around 5500 residents and about another 2 to 3 thousand on the outskirts.. we have a very good hospital here, considering the size of the county and residents.. my wife is a nurse and now is the office mgr.

of the home health dept.. it seems that there is no end to the several things the hospital is involved in that call for volunteers.

I"ve noticed since being out of the JW's and seeing more of people 'in the world' that there is REAL compassion among a lot of people. Compassion that really moves you and in forty years I have NEVER seen in the JW's.

I know it's not perfect out of the borg but it's far better.
