I am very happy that this hospital stepped in an saved this woman's life. She had been sorely misled by a cult like religion.

HOWEVER, I am concerned that some JW may well be driven 'underground' to give birth and therefore risk their their own and their unborn child's life.

When I was a JW it was my worst fear that anything would be forced on myself or my children and may well have considered such a course of action, of not having my babies in hospital, if I even suspected that something would have been forced on me.

As commendable as the comments of the judges were, women should have been reassured that they would be protected from having their rights trodden on, as the rights of women in labour can be ignored and in the UK women have been sectioned under the mental health act for refusing a cesarean section.

Protection should be put in place that no totally necessary procedure is ever carried out on anyone as this ruling may well find some doctor or midwife 'high on power' to force treatment and that would be a tragedy for everyone.

I'll tell you what the new meeting arrangement means!

It means that God has dumbed down the qualifications required to live forever....that is what it means!

When I was dubbie, I had to get at least one hour in a month to not be harrassed by elders!

When I was dubbie it was required that you attend five boring meetings a week on three occassions, now you only have to show your face twice!

It's an insult to my 'living forever' efforts! I resent the dumbing down! Why should new dubbies have it easy to qualify to live forever than I did!

I am INSULTED!!!!!

Why the WT Society is DOOMED!

yesterday morning i was listening to 'thought for the day', on radio 4 bbc.. a rabbi was discussing why the jewish faith had survived for thousands of years.. he pointed out that the centre of the faith was the children.

because the children were put first they wanted to stay in the faith as the faith respected them and so they respected the faith in return.. the problem with the wt society is that it puts itself first and the children are just a nuisance to be sat silent in meetings, disciplined for wriggling, talking, and just being children.

the leaders of the wt despise children and only love themselves, giving only lip service to the care children should receive and more importantly the respect children should receive.. therefore, with offspring of jws leaving the wt at the rate of only 1 in every 8 children remaining, the writing is on the wall of the watchtower society.

Indo_Dude - I didn't say 'when' the Wacktower is to implode just that it WILL!

You can't compare 150 years to thousands upon thousands.

BUT, the WT does not 'care' for children and so it will shrivel away gradually and eventually die.

an elder read a letter last night, and i practically giggled through the whole thing.

his poorly manufactured gravitas was most amusing, given the ludicrous content of the letter.. it seems the society is pissed that the friends aren't choosing the "recommended lodging" when going to conventions.

i remembered two important details about the letter.

this thread, and others like it, got me thinking that, if this board is representative of society, there is definitely an anti-theist wind blowing in western nations, much more so in europe than here in the united states.

FHN - My point exactly! Of course he doesn't believe it! It's and excuse and a 'cloaking device' that allows people to appear something that they are not!

In effect they are saying, 'You can't criticise me as my best friend is God and I'm religious so everything I do must be good, right and if not, at least they are for good and right reasons.' They don't believe it, they just 'use it'.

No! It will not happen here!

People will not give up their 'disguise' or 'invisibility cloak' in the west that easily!

'I believe in God' and therefore 'I must be a 'good' person' is not something people would give up easily.

Just as 'I believe in God and he told me to invade Iraq' is an excuse that has been used by one 'religionist' and therefore it excuses him from everything that he might do wrong and gives him and automatic 'get out of jail card.'

Ever wonder why so many incarcerated criminals find 'God'? Because God is their 'disguise' and 'invisibility cloak' and 'excuse' for suddenly having become a supposedly 'good' person!

People do not give up something that makes them appear to be something they are not!

Who doesn't want the ultimate supreme power of the Universe as their own and personal best friend?!

Yuk! No!

The WT can keep them! They deserve eachother!

Sometimes, you just have to stay away from people who judge and demean you for your own sanity and health.

As long as they remain JW and more importantly, treat us like rubbish, we don't want or need them.

Sometimes you have to draw a line in the sand....and then move on.....fast.......and maybe even RUN!

we read, write and shed tears over the plight of sexually abused girls & boys.

they suffer at the hands of not only authority figures like elders, priests, teachers, but also relatives and of course, strangers.. but, reading the following story is even, if possible, more chilling.

There is something mentally, emotionally and spiritually wrong with a whole group / race / nation of people who do not understand that raping anyone, let alone children is wrong!

What is the matter with this people?

Is their religion and mentality so warped that they cannot grasp this?

This is a disturbing and disgusting reflection on religion, culture and tradition that shows why all three need microscopic examination and total elimination if they do not meet the moral standards of protection of the rights of ALL that we come to accept and expect!

That young girl had more intelligence and moral fibre than all the older people, including the judges, her parents and her 'husband' / rapist! Yet just because she is a female she is the lowest of the low! Shame on all these people who conspired to treat her so badly.

This world makes me sick!
