19Fortress Kingdom Halls
by Gill ina new kingdom hall has just been built very close to where we live.
it is taking on the appearance of fort knox now, much like some other khs near us.
the high fences with nasty sharp bits are just going up and there are floodlights on at night.

Profit making..
by Gill indoes anyone have any accurate information on the profit margin the wtbts has on all its publications/cd's etc?.
even my loyal jw relatives are complaining about the constant moaning from the platform for more contributions.
i'd like to be able to give them some accurate knowlege for a change.. thanks everyone!.

Evil Christmas!!!!!!
by Gill inwould you believe that i just got told off my a born again christian minister whose daughter goes to school with my daughter.. he knew that i was an ex jw and that we were celebrating christmas this year and proceeded to give me the full pagan origins thing, and people getting into debt, and it having nothing to do with jesus birth!
then there's the people who let themselves go morally at christmas parties and drink and drive and.........etc.. i thought only jw's would dress someone down like that.
i politely nodded at him and smiled kindly at his preaching.. aaaah!

Ray Franz cash pay off...?
by Gill inwhen ray franz left brooklyn, he and his wife were given a $10,000 pay off according to crisis of conscience.. was this an act of christianity or was it a pay off to keep him silent about the 'inner workings of the borg'?.
i wondered this because he put up with a lot of defamatory gossip before, after two years, deciding to write his book?.
any one any ideas?

Young Pioneer Sister desperate for assistance..any advice?
by Gill ini have a son aged 19. he's a bit of a handsome devil at the best of times and the young ladies have always been ... how can i put it nicely.... fond of him.
but having said that he's always very friendly with everyone.
we used to go to a congregation a few miles from where we live now when he was a tiny child and he was friendly with the kids there.

Who else hasn't got a pension plan?!!!!!!!
by Gill inwell here we are starting to think about retiring in another twenty years and what do we find?
we find that we've missed the best years of our lives for saving in a pension plan simply because we knew that we wouldn't need one because armageddon was coming.
we were told by quite a few elders in our congregation that simply having a pension plan showed lack of faith that the kingdom was coming very soon and we should actively get rid of the company pension plans that we had.

We're not Suitable!
by Gill inmy husband and myself used to be witnesses, but not for quite a long while now.
every last member of both our families are witnesses so i guess we're the proverbial black sheep, but we haven't been disfellowshiped or have me disassociated, just drifted quietly away.. my husbands grandfather, who is ninety-seven now, suffered a stroke a year ago.
he spent several months in hospital.

Marking...?
by Gill indoes anyone out there remember 'marking'.
the principle being that if you saw something that you thought 'weak' or 'inappropriate' in your brother you didn't tell others but you 'marked them in your heart' and this person became someone that you personally kept contact with down to the minimum.
talk about judging your brothers!
