Muslim Extremists & JWs----Living A Double Life

isn't it amazing to see how these people can mingle in society and in reality be living a double life?

they may be nice to your face but ultimately, they think we (those who do not conform to their beliefs) deserve death.

That's true, I guess everyone sort of thinks they are right and everyone else is unfortunately living in the dark. But the similarity btwn Extremist Muslims and JWs are they are both very exclusive, very extreme, and are willing to fight to the death for their religion. (JWs will allow themselves or their children to die with no blood transfusion, Extremists Muslims allow themselves to die to make their point.)

I think most others in the world, when backed into a corner will chose life independent from their identified peer group or religion than death standing up for them.

But then again, look at all these young, well meaning kids going off to war for their country...(By the way, as my disclaimer that I am well aware of our hard working troops, I worked at a "boot camp" type of situation for a certain branch of our armed forces recently for a clinical rotation, and I have so much more respect for those guys now. They really do mean well, and THEY ARE SO YOUNG!!! Just babies.)

Also I like you guys! I'm actually afraid I'm using this site as a substitute for picking up the phone and calling a friend, but it's so convenient, and I'm so busy...

I have mostly online classes this semester, which leaves me open to stop by this site, like way too often!

A Dream Come True!

my husband was on the phone with the elder who was the po at the time of the great "wedding fiasco".

let's just say my husband initiated the conversation (i can't go into details) and just before he hung up i said something i've been wanting to say for almost 6 years!

i yelled at the top of my lungs: (now mind you; i was only about a foot from the phone) f**k you!!!

this is my first post of any significance and if i seem to ramble at times please forgive me.

i have alot to say and i don't know how much of it will make sense.. .

i need help in trying to figure out how to get out of "the truth".

Lot, Welcome!

Sorry for your dilemma. It's a tough spot because you have no reasons (other than you know you are living a lie) to leave. What I suggest is to basically drift (which you are sort of doing). A little less meetings, a little more "extracirricular". Maybe join a neighborhood group or join a local running club, and invite your wife too. Hopefully you'll start to make some friends out of the org and have a bit of support there. Then "all your friends" won't be JWs anymore. It's so hard when your family is in. The first few months will be spent listening to them pleading for you to attend all meetings, etc. But after a while, you'll be sort of labeled "weak in the truth" in their minds, and hopefully they'll expect less "spiritually" from you. You can play dumb, and just say "but I need the exercise" or "I have to work late" etc. In no way give them a reason to DF you. No "I'm doubting the society" type of thing.

The other option is to pick up your stuff and move to another area. (Bring your wife and kids, of course). Not easy, I'm sure, but it really makes it easier to cut ties. Get your publisher cards transferred over, meet about two people in the new hall, go to about 1 or 2 meetings, and then don't go anymore! Don't answer the door, don't answer calls when the elders come knocking.

That's what I did, I moved. Actually moved twice in one year. It worked like a charm, but then again, I was single and moving off to college, so it was different than your situation.

Good luck, I've been there. You're among people who have been there too.

Women, girls, ladies -- 5 biggest "turn on's" / "turn off's"

in preperation for a class i'll be taking starting next month entitled "history of love, sex and marriage" i would like to probe your heart's desire to find out the 5 biggest turn on's and 5 biggest turn off's you find in men.

and well, hell, i also would just like to add to my general knowledge.

ONs:

1. Great sense of humor

2. Smart (as in world traveller type, knows more about stuff than everyone else)

3. Blushes easily

4. Quiet/mysterious (something different about the guy, must stand out from the others who are just running their mouths)

5. I love the goatee, too! (maybe because that was forbidden for jdubs)

6. Physical labor (I just love to see a guy work hard! Reminds me of this crush I had as a JW witness, he would always come over and help my mom with car repairs, and I would just think he is the greatest)

OFFs:

1. picking his nose

2. boring, likes to stay in

3. close mindedness!!!!!!!!!!

4. Haughty, show off-y, thinks he knows more than others, and tries to let them know it. So annoying.

5. Smoking. It's like, yuck, I really don't want to deal with trying to get this guy to quit. Plus he's going to die before me, no thanks.

New Release: Bible Teach book and new light on 1914

i must admit that the social pressure was a large factor in my exiting.

though it was hell at the time i'd rather that than life as as dub now.

Uraban: Welcome! Yes I too remember those "Winterized" things, and nope, they never did fly. But the teachers and other students did go way out of their way, it was nice.

It' annoys me now when I'm at work and we have Christmas music playing in the hallway and a coworker who is Jewish says she's offended by it and we need to turn it off. There are like 20 people working in this hall, and she is the only one offended. I so badly want to tell her that I was a JDub and never asked the stores to turn off their christmas music. It's just part of life, even if you chose not to celebrate. (And plenty of Jewish, Muslims, Hindus in the hallway (most of our docs and nurses are from other countries, no one complains but her.)

Danny Hazsard: Wow, I never even stopped and thought what it must have been like for the JWs on the day Kennedy died. Must have been awful.

Tal: So great to hear someone apologized to you. I'm sorry you went through all that.

I was only threatened/bullied when I tattled on other witnesses. I've thought of apologizing to them, but oddly enough, they're still in the truth, and I'm the one out. I'm afraid they'll now "tell on me"!

you will all no doubt want to upchuk your lunch be pleased to find out how jehovah has blessed the brothers and sisters at the expanded, updated printery at wallkill.

i have several pages of notes from that momentous occasion, but haven't a clue how to get them to post here.

one of the snippets that will make you want to vomit highlights mentioned how, in reference to one job out-sourced to a "worldly" company for the concrete floors, the foreman of said company told the dubs that "what he learned in his few months at watchtower was comparable to five years of college".
