do wives just tag along?.
i'm sure this applies to husbands and children too, but i feel mostly women.. in the congregation there were often brothers viewed as strong , in postions of responsability such as min's and elders.usually in my experience the wives were no where near as "spiritual".. in fact it often seamed as though there "service" was based on their husbands.. i've seen this in men to but not as much.. now the proof of this is in whether a large number of spouces leave the truth without much persuading needed by their more forthright wives or husbands.. heres an example.. mine.. my wife has never read an apostate book and doesn't look on the internet, but as soon as i stoped going to the hall so did she.. another contrary experience is of a prominant elder in france who was well known and gave talks on the district assemblies.as soon as his wife died he left the truth as he was only going to please her.. whats your experience been.. (please don't get mad at me ladies i'm only talking about what i've seen)
I agree with SW.
Its seems the women are the ones that give most of the answers during the WT discussions. The women also seem to be the ones out in service. The women really seem to research their answers.
The only men commenting at the meetings are the elders and MS.
If the JW's are right, the new world will be full of women looking for men.
ok as those of you who know me know i'm a little wacky since my exit from the borg.
i've decided that its a little more than can be solved with just this board so i'm calling in the pros.
hopefully they can just do some type of operation and remove this borg chip that is still implanted in my brain.

I think going to a professional is a great idea. But also try to remember that just because the WTBTS let you down that you don't have to give up on God. Perhaps you can find a tradtional church that believes in the mercy of God and the true meaning of Christ sacrafice for mankind. Get a copy of a non-NWT bible, maybe a Living Bible, and read the book of Galatians. Don't just read a few verses, read the entire book. Learn that the Good News is really all about relying on Jesus to help us and to live our lives for Him.
The Good News is that Jesus does not expect us to conform to any certain strict laws, just let His Holy Spirit guide you.
It is scary to me how many people let the WTBTS keep them from having a relationship with God. You still must have faith, but your faith needs to be in Jesus and God not a society.
As I said before, getting professional help is great. I'm not trying to discouage you from this.
Just remember, its really pretty simple, Jesus Loves You!

i'm just curious about something and thought some of the former elders and such could answer.. i know of some witnesses who are sick and can't come to the meetings.. we used to call them shut-ins in church.
i don't think that any elders or pioneers ever visit on a regular basis.
it seems to me that it would be easy for a pioneer to rack up some good hours by going by and having a weekley book study and wt study with these people.

no doubt some apostates would have been delighted if many of jehovah's witnesses had stuck rigidly to the previous understanding of such subjects and refused to progress.
I think most JW's knew there needed to be a change in the generation teaching.
I remember the first time I talked to my wife about the fact that the teaching had to change. It was in about 1990, we had a big fight over this. It is one of the things that blows my mind about the witnesses. They know some things aren't right, but until they read it in the Watchtower or hear it from the speaker at the KH, they will argue the point.
Anyway, the WT point is flawed because if anyone had not accepted the change they would have been labeled an apostate and dealt with accordingly. There is no room in the WTBTS for an individual to "rigidy" stick to a previous understanding.

I mentioned that a pioneer could really get some good hours from this, but it might actually help the people they are visiting.

my one and only real goal in life is to make sure my kid is happy all the time.
i dont mean literally every second cause thats not possible but i mean from now until hes an adult i want him to have everything that i didnt.
It seems to me that you are very sincere in your goals.
My goals as far as raising my children has always been about trying to help them become responsable adults, capable of making their own desicions and mistakes.
I don't think I can save them from being unhappy sometimes, but I try to make sure they realize that failing is sometimes a part of growing.
I remember a song a group of young people sang in our church when I was growing up. The chorus said something like "flowers need rain to make them grow."
In my opinion, children need guidance and sometimes lessons in disapline, but most they need their parents love, support and time.

After reading some "apostate" literature on the WTBTS the scripture
Matthew 23:17 really seemed to apply to the society.
This has since always been one of the scriptures that means a lot to me.
When I read posts from people like Amazing and Dog Patch, I see a corrolation to Jesus telling the Pharisees that he will send them great teachers and wise men but they will crucify and kill (disfellowship or disassociate) them. Read Matthew 23:13-36 and see if this seems like the WTBTS to you?

"long time passing".. children in the witness community here in oz seem to be disappearing.. there was a time when each congregation could expect to count new publishers each year from the children growing up in witness families.
say 1 or 2 in an average 100 publisher congregation.
Its scary to think of a 10 or 11 year old being batised. It seems to me that the point of babtism is the point where you are no longer allowed free thought.
I remember years ago a person could be an approved associate, and could lose this status for wrong behavior, but now it seems you must be babtised before judical action is taken. Am I wrong?
