because the society does not teach a basic christian doctrine, salavtion by grace, but rather teaches that salavtion only comes through them by works, this in itself creates a dilemma.
if salvation is by works only, then you need a system that puts you under an obligation to perform these works.
what are these works?
As I see this issue, there is a very basic problem.
How could we ever do enough work to repay the debt we owe to Christ. Grace or even undeserved kindness, is our only hope. How can undeserved kindness be deserved? Isn't that what the WTBTS teaches? That somehow, by our works, we will deserve undeserved kindness?

is it only the book studies i've been to or is it tradition to remove your shoes when going to a book study at someones home?.
i always have to remember to make sure my socks don't have holes in them.
So, maybe this is the tradition in some areas.
I live in the Southeastern United States and we have very high humidity. Taking off your shoes after a long day at work may not go over well at times.
I've had to get used to removing my shoes when going through airport security also. Oh well, I needed to throw away all those socks with holes in them anyway!!

I see flower and mouthy's point here.
Why not add to the list pioneers and females who also worked at bethel. Just because females are not allowed to be elders, doesn't mean that they are not respected as leaders in the congragations. Just think, most of the best, most thoughtful comments you hear at meetings are often from women .
It seems that it is fairly well accepted that females do most of the preaching work. Wouldn't it be interesting to see how many of these former witnesses are now posting on JWD.

I understand how you feel. I also attend meetings and then read everything said here.
I read Blondies WT study threads and enjoy them much more than the study at the hall.
I think there are a lot more people like us than anyone thinks.
Amazing has good advice though, be careful who you discuss your doubts with. I'm not babtised, but I still will only discuss my true feelings with my wife. She has her doubts also, but she can't do anything about them because her family are active JW's.
We just do the best we can. We accept that some will call us "spritually weak" because of low or no service hours, but live the best way we can.
I can gleam a certain amount of biblical truth at the meetings, maybe less than I could at a local church, but I can be satisfied with that right now. Maybe later, our circumstances will change and we'll be more free to continue our lives away from the WTBTS. For now, I'll continue to walk this path.

" but in the next paragraph it says that just as the tithing arrangement was not optional for the israelites, meeting attendance is also not optional for christians.

It does not seem like a very far leap from what the February KM is saying and what is described in Matthew 12: 1-14.
Here the Pharisees were giving Jesus a hard time about the Sabbath. Jesus told the Pharisees that "the Son of man is Lord of the Sabbath."
It really makes you wonder; would Jesus have been a good JW?

Your story really brings to light all the things I feel are so wrong with the judicial process used by JW's.
Don't beat yourself up too much over this. You know the real truth now. Your story and the things you are doing now are helping more people than you will ever know.
