Terry, in days gone by during WW2 the WTS built a building around Lansing, NY, for the big guys and favored cohorts to retreat to away from NYC (at least that is what my jw family told me, who were adult jws during that time.. The WTS in 1943 converted it to the location of the Gilead school for missionaries. I figure the WTS moving out of NYC is another one of the "safety" issues.

WATCHTOWER's RTO (Remote translation offices) like this one are million dollar luxury locations
by Terry inmore than 60 percent of our full-time translation teams work, not at branch offices, but at remote translation offices (rto).
why is this arrangement beneficial?
what equipment do translators need in order to work effectively at an rto?

Help please.
by lastmanstanding inrecently, in the past few months, and this only applies to in dubs who might have taken note, the watchtower study edition made a change.
it mentioned the “warning work” where dubs are going to march around and proclaim everyone is going to die.. anyway, this article said it was now only a possibility, not a sure thing.. i can’t find it.
did watchtology change it already?.

Diogenesister, good observations. This was said when I was a teeanger 50 years ago and keeps popping up. The WTS has adjusted the timing of the GT in relation to Armageddon several times (only an old person like me might remember). Yes, it is ridiculous to go to people's doors after the GT starts to tell them are "toast."

DOYKL, I agree because of the statement of whether these publications "have not moved in a reasonable amount of time." I can remember when some publications in stock for years had yellowed pages and the person in charge of literature was told to dump them, not looking good to give to public. Congregations used to have do inventory of how many and "cost" of publication and submit to WTS; and then WTS told them to either get them into the hands of the jw members or get rid of them. That was so loooong ago.

The WTS has always said that when the great tribulation starts, there will be no way any non-jws will escape the judgment of Armageddon, the door will be closed. Then jws would go door to door telling people their destruction is near. It is an old concept that has been tweaked over the years as to details and timing.

"Ah, I wish I could've been around to watch the apostles knock on doors and hand out papyrus scrolls... to a largely illiterate public that couldn't read anyway. The very idea is laughable." The WTS takes liberties with this concept and pictures in their publications. Supposedly, many Jews learned to read at the synagogue. But books/codex was a dream then. Even the material scrolls were made of was expensive, and the scrolls were not handed around. It is a historical deception. I showed this to a scholar in Jewish history, etc., and he just laughed and laughed.

Start of the Great Tribulation will be announced soon
by joey jojo inat the 2021 annual meeting, samuel herd revealed new light and claimed the anointed will all have passed away before armageddon.
it has since been revealed that while they will die before armageddon, there will be some anointed still around that will witness the start of the great tribulation.. so the question is, how many years until the existing members of the governing body have passed away?.
im not a doctor, but based on their age and various stages of obesity, im thinking 10- 15 years- give or take, sounds about right.. with that in mind, the great tribulation could be announced any day.. the new understanding has now freed the org from the burden of having to identify a particular generation in relation to the date of armageddon.

Fisherman, "antimatter" and also that there would limited nuclear war (limited!). Why would the creator of all (?) need to use those things. Supposedly, he used the non-polluting measures, like drowning the Egyptians with water, killed their firstborns without killing anyone else nearby...They are convinced that the WTS teachings are all true.

Is there ANY possibility at all that the WatchTower and the Governing Body has the TRUTH? (You're about to find out)
by Terry inin my opinion, having been a jehovah's witness for twenty years as well as being an ex-jw for forty-three years,is that the following talk as given by peter gregerson, emphatically removes any shadow of a doubt aboutwhether the claim for the faithful slave has any merit whatsoever.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ytcj6smffbk&t=3145s.
note: (references to the publication the finished mystery are given.
you can read the entire book here:https://www.gutenberg.org/files/46016/46016-pdf.pdf.

Absolutely right, Terry! He came late to his "aha" moment but he left (da'd) and never looked back. Everything that happened to him from the WTS confirmed his decision was right. Lovely wife too.

In 1874, Isaac Vail, put forth the water canopy idea. https://www.creationscience.com/onlinebook/FAQ32.html Though you will find it hard to find this in the old WTS publications, the WTS based the water canopy idea on this man's ideas. But the WTS has kept the water canopy idea without contributing it to Vail.http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/canopy.html
https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/152570/whence-flood-waters-flood-water-canopy-theory
The Witnesses' J. F. Rutherford promoted the Canopy Theory in his 1927 book Creation. [13] "Jehovah God," said Rutherford, commenced an "increase of light upon his great work for the benefit of man about the year 1874 A.D."--referring to publication of Vail's pamphlet. Rutherford presented Vail's theory in the context of the Witnesses' 7,000-year-long Day/Ages of Creation. According to the Witnesses' popular book Did Man Get Here By Evolution Or By Creation?, [14] the Bible explains that "a vast water canopy was suspended high above the Earth, and its fall caused a global deluge in the days of the man Noah, who wrote an eyewitness account of the event." The Canopy shielded the Earth from cosmic rays, reducing the formation of carbon-14, thus making radiocarbon-dated antediluvian objects appear older than they really are.

Anyone else remember the Awake saying this?
by BottanicPepper ini may have put this in the wrong thread.
if so, i'm sorry.. my conundrum is this.... i am almost completely certain that an awake back in the 80's/90's mentioned a group of rock bands we shouldn't listen to and i seem to remember them actually naming guns and roses.. i can't find anything now, and i'm wondering if it's the mandela effect, or if it's another case of the cdrom versions of the awakes being doctored again.. does anyone else remember this?
or am i crazy?

The WTS for a long time has tried not to diss a movie, etc., but uses oblique language. The WTS can depend on certain elders and other jws, to make an application to a specific movie, tv show, music, etc. Last I saw was in a 1983 Awake, "Interestingly, many have noted parallels in the story to that of the life of Jesus Christ. Said Professor Albert E. Millar, Jr.: “I think the thing that struck me most was the idea of the capacity to heal, and then when E.T. died and was resurrected.” We have in E.T., then, an enchanting Messiahlike figure that gives momentary emotional release to our need for a true friend with powers greater than ours. Therein lies the movie’s great appeal." "E.T. may be a skillfully constructed and highly entertaining movie. But it provides no substitute for our True Friend, Jesus Christ, who saves us from this dying, wicked world. After all, E.T. is make-believe. Christ is reality."
