I can remember a 48-year old man was "called into Bethel" to do some extensive electrical work. He and his wife had to go to "new boy" school, where the audience was told to be sure to "flush thoroughly." I guess some young men had not learned that at home, and the person after them in the bathroom was not happy with the crap in the toilet.

WHEN is the Kingdom of God coming?
by Fisherman inwhen is the kingdom of god coming?.
on being asked by the pharisees when the kingdom of god was coming, he answered them: “the kingdom of god is not coming with paratherisis; 21 nor will people say, ‘see here!’ or, ‘there!’ for look!
the kingdom of god is in your midst.” —lu 17:20,21. .

Beards- just told by an elder
by dothemath ini know this subject has been talked about lots over the years, just thought i would share a recent finding from canada.. while visiting with a group of friends, an elder (don’t recall how the subject came up) mentioned the local body had voted to allow brothers with beards be allowed to give talks from the platform.
(it was a very close vote).
the direction given was for each congregation to decide for themselves if that is now acceptable.. so some congregations will be for, and for many it will not.. it’ll probably be a long time before we see any pictures on the watchtower where they’re allowing this though..

Each congregation BOE can decide for their own congregation only. They cannot impose it on other congregations. Exception: if an elder with a beard is assigned to give a talk at a congregation that does not allow beards for their men to have, that speaker may not be able to give the talk at the other congregation if he has a beard. So far, in the US I have not heard that a speaker on the platform assembly etc. has had a beard. Might be different in Europe.

Does anyone else get “triggered” when somebody uses the word “triggered”?
by slimboyfat inwhat’s the world coming to?
(i guess this makes me officially an older while male now ).

I feel "triggered" means one word can send a person back to the years of their abuse and how that felt. One word, and all that tumbles out. Like pulling the trigger on a gun and all the painful, death-dealing crap comes out at a very high speed. Hard to put the bullet back in the weapon. " "The term "triggered" refers to the experience of having an emotional reaction to a disturbing topic (such as violence or the mention of suicide) in the media or a social setting."https://www.verywellmind.com/what-does-it-mean-to-be-triggered-4175432

WATCHTOWER's RTO (Remote translation offices) like this one are million dollar luxury locations
by Terry inmore than 60 percent of our full-time translation teams work, not at branch offices, but at remote translation offices (rto).
why is this arrangement beneficial?
what equipment do translators need in order to work effectively at an rto?

Terry, in days gone by during WW2 the WTS built a building around Lansing, NY, for the big guys and favored cohorts to retreat to away from NYC (at least that is what my jw family told me, who were adult jws during that time.. The WTS in 1943 converted it to the location of the Gilead school for missionaries. I figure the WTS moving out of NYC is another one of the "safety" issues.

Help please.
by lastmanstanding inrecently, in the past few months, and this only applies to in dubs who might have taken note, the watchtower study edition made a change.
it mentioned the “warning work” where dubs are going to march around and proclaim everyone is going to die.. anyway, this article said it was now only a possibility, not a sure thing.. i can’t find it.
did watchtology change it already?.

Diogenesister, good observations. This was said when I was a teeanger 50 years ago and keeps popping up. The WTS has adjusted the timing of the GT in relation to Armageddon several times (only an old person like me might remember). Yes, it is ridiculous to go to people's doors after the GT starts to tell them are "toast."

DOYKL, I agree because of the statement of whether these publications "have not moved in a reasonable amount of time." I can remember when some publications in stock for years had yellowed pages and the person in charge of literature was told to dump them, not looking good to give to public. Congregations used to have do inventory of how many and "cost" of publication and submit to WTS; and then WTS told them to either get them into the hands of the jw members or get rid of them. That was so loooong ago.

The WTS has always said that when the great tribulation starts, there will be no way any non-jws will escape the judgment of Armageddon, the door will be closed. Then jws would go door to door telling people their destruction is near. It is an old concept that has been tweaked over the years as to details and timing.

"Ah, I wish I could've been around to watch the apostles knock on doors and hand out papyrus scrolls... to a largely illiterate public that couldn't read anyway. The very idea is laughable." The WTS takes liberties with this concept and pictures in their publications. Supposedly, many Jews learned to read at the synagogue. But books/codex was a dream then. Even the material scrolls were made of was expensive, and the scrolls were not handed around. It is a historical deception. I showed this to a scholar in Jewish history, etc., and he just laughed and laughed.
