they believe that their deceased founder, charles taze russell (who faced legal action by his wife for inappropriate behavior in his maids bedroom), is directing the modern-day work of jehovah’s witnesses.. after the founder, c t russell died, it was stated that he was still directing the work from heaven.. "though pastor russell has passed beyond the veil, he is still managing every feature of the harvest work.

I thought all of the 144,000 would be "kings" but only in heaven, never on earth...and there would be female "anointed" too that go to heaven to be "kings." "Evidently, some early Christians lost sight of that fact and began seeking undue prominence among their brothers in the congregation. As a result, Paul was moved to ask: “You men already have your fill, do you? You are rich already, are you? You have begun ruling as kings without us, have you? And I wish indeed that you had begun ruling as kings, that we also might rule with you as kings.” 1 Cor. 4:8 (just reporting not supporting" the GB will only be kings in heaven if the are "faithful" to death per the WTS

(Reporting not Supporting) When the WTS speaks of the “congregation” is it speaking of the Israelite nation, the first century congregation of only anointed Christian members, of the WTS group of “anointed” JWs or Christians in every group?

Notice how the WTS defines “Congregation of God.”

During the time of Russell, the Congregation of God was considered made up of Jesus Christ and the Anointed. I will try to find that quote.

In all, only 144,000 persons finally make up the “congregation of God.” Today only a few of these, a remnant, are still on earth. Christians who hope to live forever on earth look for spiritual guidance from members of this “congregation of the living God.” The Bible also refers to this congregation of 144,000 members by such terms as “the bride, the Lamb’s wife,” “the body of the Christ,” “the temple of God,” “the Israel of God,” and the “New Jerusalem.”—Revelation 21:9; Ephesians 4:12; 1 Corinthians 3:17; Galatians 6:16; Revelation 21:2.

(Thus the non-anointed are not part of the Congregation of God then, the idea in the bible) There was a time that the Watchtower deliberately would say Jehovah's witnesses and their companions, that only the Israelites were called "Jehovah's witnesses" in the Old Testament and that only anointed (jw) are spiritual Israelites, thus not the great crowd.)

Why are the Governing Body Members always in-house New York Bethel members?

The current GB brings in prospective GB members from the outside first before appointing them as GB; why, to see how they function in that environment. Obedient, loyal, etc. There used to be a group called Helpers that were in-training possible future GB members. That is why it seems they choose Bethelites.

it was bad enough when they were calling people worldly now i heard a jw gossiping about someone and it was mean.just another reason i would never go back.

Ron W, and elders like that continue because the others are scared to do anything. Elders have to back elders even when they are wrong.

it was bad enough when they were calling people worldly now i heard a jw gossiping about someone and it was mean.just another reason i would never go back.

FedUpJW, your comment mirrors my own. Making up info is the worst. That happened to me and years later it was still circulating. It was an elder who spread it and when the other elders said they knew it wasn't true, but they said they would not correct it. I had to "wait on Jehovah."

Discouraging JWs From Calling

i was reading an anti cult reddit post where a woman (ex mormon) was trying her hardest to discourage the mormons from visiting her and trying to convert her back.

a few others chimed in about their various methods (coming to the door naked, pretending to be practicing black magic, etc.

) which they claimed would have the mormons and jws running away as fast as possible.. somehow, i doubt it.

The best to do is tell them you are an apostate, but that may cause other problems for you depending on your status and family in the WTS.

I found that jws with close contacts with those with "confidential" info were the first to spread it. And if not, they just made up stuff and passed it on. Elders and their wives were the biggest offenders. Yes, gossip still exists for is more prevalent than ever. Welcome, Nancy!

Konagirl, I was thinking more in monetary payment. The WTS in court says they have the clergy-penitent privilege in not reporting sexual abuse in the congregation to an outside source. For many years, the WTS has said they don't have a clergy class. But that got in the way of the WTS claiming protection under the clergy penitent privilege.

What is the clergy-penitent privilege?

A form of privilege that protects from disclosure to third parties communications between a member of the clergy and a person who seeks spiritual counseling. A person seeking to invoke the clergy-penitent privilege typically must show that: The communication was made to a clergy member.

So how the WTS uses Weasel words to say they don't have a "paid" clergy but they have a clergy...wow. It is legal quibbling but jws and ex-jws. remember the WTS long describing themselves as not having a clergy class.
