the wts encouraged us to have one, i alway found it funny when people would desplay it where everyone could see it to show how busy they are in the lords work.. karter..

Never saw that, but I kept a private one to keep track of my time in general. Some jws were always doing this to show how righteous they were. I guess they missed these words from Jesus (reporting not supporting) Matthew 6:1-4 " “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.

2 “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."

rather than seeing the king of the north as the final opponent of god’s people, i propose that daniel 11 points to a completely different figure.

while the watchtower society focuses on the struggle between these two kings, they overlook a third entity mentioned in verse 40, but let’s ready this verse first from the new world translation.

more than 140 years of a sincere & well-meaning "it's coming soon" from the org, can be swept under the carpet - nothing to see here!.

The WTS counsels its members not to "run ahead" of their god, but then says this (self-aggrandizing for sure):

WT 6/1/1997 p. 14 "In contrast with humans, who have a limited life span, Jehovah never feels pressured by time to reveal his secrets prematurely. This fact should prevent us from becoming impatient when certain Bible questions cannot presently be explained to our satisfaction. Modesty on the part of the faithful and discreet slave class, commissioned to provide the Christian household with food at the proper time, prevents it from presumptuously running ahead and wildly speculating about things that are still unclear. The slave class strives to avoid being dogmatic. It is not too proud to admit that as of now it cannot answer every question, keeping Proverbs 4:18 clearly in mind. But how thrilling to know that Jehovah, in his own due time and in his own way, will continue to reveal his secrets as to his purposes! Never should we become impatient with Jehovah’s arrangement, indiscreetly trying to rush ahead of the Revealer of secrets. Pinata's vs Birthday's - classic JW hypocrisy

i vaguely knew that the pinata had some kind of pagan origin and i assumed that having a pinata at a jw party was frowned on by the b0rg.

however, despite its blatant pagan origins, apparently i was wrong.. the 22 september, 2003 awake states that the aztecs would smash a clay pot full of 'treasures' in honour of the god huitzilopochtli's birthday.

spanish missionaries simply switched the pot for the pinata during the christian conversion of the aztecs.

Even if luaus today do not involve religious or spiritistic aspects, how are they different from other celebrations that have pagan origins but simply have been adopted by modern cultures to be a family fun gathering?

i wonder why so many kings are needed for the millennial reign?

the almighty governing body says 24,000,000,000 people combined from those resurrected and the survivors of the big 'a' could make it into paradise.

that gives you 1 king for every 166,665 persons.

Rattigan350, It doesn't matter to you obviously. But then we are all individuals. My grandparents were Bible Students then (later jws in 1931) and saw the changes and left. It is not remembered much by jws today, but Rutherford's thinking like that moved them to leave the WTS. That is a reality. It shows that the WTS has been changing it's beliefs from the very beginning of that organization. I am merely reporting not supporting the WTS teachings. I see similarities today.

Pass on cars to attend Assemblies?

i have just read a post about february 2025 (i suppose) announcements in italy saying that from now on at assemblies they need a pass, given by elders, to put on cars.. is that possible/true?.

Yah, I hear you. Especially if its your children. :) Maybe, I would expect the extra people outside your family should help pay for gas, or look elsewhere for a ride, unless they really don't have the funds.

Here in the UK we need a pass to display on the car when we attend Circuit Assemblies at Hayes Bridge. It is obtained from a nominated elder and it is a requirement that you have a full complement of passengers

Is a charge associated with this pass? How many people per vehicle? How are more people assigned to vehicle if you have vehicle that holds 6 and only 4 people in your family? Is it first come first served when it comes to the parking spots nearest the building or do disabled people have preference, marked spots for disabled only? How are non-jws handled, same requirement, pass, "full" vehicle?
