Letter Detailing My Latest JW Encounter

i am writing this letter in the hope of reconnecting with two jehovah’s witness elders whom i met at a literature display in downtown new braunfels, across the street from krause’s.

i explained to them that my daughter is a jehovah’s witness and, therefore, i am somewhat familiar with their beliefs.

Wonderful point, Sea Breeze; short, clear, to the point, using sincere questions not statements!

When I was a jw, that would have been an aha moment for me to have those dots connected.

I asked them who introduced the concept of two classes of Christians having separate hopes, when Ephesians 4:4 says that all Christians are called to “one hope?”
They said they would have to do some research

Once you get a JW to admit that the Watchtower has added a hope (or gospel) that was unknown or not taught by the apostles, then you can read to them Galatians 1: 8 and ask them if this verse concerns or alarms them at all.

" though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. " - Galatians 1:8

Ask them, "you don't really want to be cursed by God do you"?

This verse destroys the false Watchtower teaching of "new light."

Yes, they will not consider you a "right-hearted" person, so won't waste their time on you. You will just be the dust they shake off their feet.

elders wont pray for someone?

a former member said that elders told a relative of his after she was dfed that they would not be praying for her.

is that some kind of policy, or were they just doing their own thing in that instance?

The WTS has taught that one way they decided some act was a df'ing one, is whether that act was punished by being put to death under the law code.

Also, that when a family member or friend was found guilty of such an offense in Israel, i.e., adultery or murder, and put to death, it was impossible for family or friends to associate with them. So they correlate this with not associating with a df'd family member or friend.

Could you pray for a dead person? Perhaps, but would it be likely for Israelites to pray for an executed criminal, executions that they had participated in?

Just reporting not supporting

if the wording & context of a scripture is dismissed at the outset, then every statement and assumption which follows is implicititly false.

in the very first study article, the gibbering body continues to indoctrinate the sheeple to accept that over 500 people met jesus on the mountain - despite the blatant fact that 1 corinthians 15:6 says absolutely nothing about the 500 people being anywhere near galilee!

(matthew 28:16-20) however, the 11 disciples went to galʹi·lee to the mountain where jesus had arranged for them (the 11 disciples) to meet.

I notice that there is no cross reference to the phrase

The WTS also tends to edit scriptures, ignoring the part they don't want to emphasize because it cause some to wonder, "why was that part left out." I call these edits, snippets.

Good points, LUHE, context is the key and considering others around you. But it is not something that can be legislated and enforced, as I mentioned in a previous post on here.

Why only bitch? Why not certain swear words like the f word, or the c word, or other derogatory words about other body parts?

I haven't read the reason for why bitch was singled out, but I can't think of a reason why the reason would be valid or helpful. After all, who is going to enforce it when there are so many real crimes/problems that need attention.

The school system in Madison, WI, learned that arbitrary laws like "zero tolerance" and does not consider the circumstances, just makes a blanket rule and created an angry response from a large number of people that do not normally agree on other things.

i was ministered to by several different people at a jw funeral i attended today.

one older lady said to me, "you know the end is right around the corner, just look at the state of the world today".

i said, "well yes but that has been the mantra for decades, remember 'stay alive till '75'".

Yes, the WTS is using more sly techniques to indoctrinate jws to their viewpoint not their bible's, they count on the fact that jws hardly take time to read the WT publications let alone the complete bible.

I ask some jws and even ex-jws, does Acts 15 ever say "governing body" and does the WTS ever put quotes around the phrase "governing body" to indicate it is a quote from Acts 15. Most will say that Acts uses that phrase. When I show them it doesn't, the jws get confused and I see cognitive dissonance start to show on their faces and ex-jws have an aha moment.

Does God’s direction recorded at Jeremiah 7:16 mean that Christians would not pray about someone who has been expelled from the Christian congregation because he is an unrepentant sinner?

Since the person is no longer in the congregation, any change in heart and attitude may be observed first by those close to him, such as a marriage mate or family members. Those observing such changes may conclude that the transgressor did not commit a sin that incurs death. They may be moved to pray that he may draw strength from God’s inspired Word and that Jehovah will act toward the sinner in harmony with His will.—Psalm 44:21; Ecclesiastes 12:14.

While some may be in a position to observe sufficient evidence to believe that the sinner has repented, this may not be the case with the congregation in general. They would be puzzled, troubled, even stumbled if they were to hear someone praying publicly about the erring one. For this reason, those who feel moved to pray about the sinner should do so only in private, leaving any further development in the matter in the hands of the responsible elders in the congregation.

So do men (edited) mind if someone calls them a bitch or from another viewpoint, call their sister, mother, wife a bitch. Or call them a "son of a bitch"? Probably not.
