Beth Sarim, "It seems that if you're a good liar,,you have governing body material." Add to that, good at supporting and telling the lies the GB make.

Do JWs believe Jesus is an angel?
by slimboyfat ini would suggest:.
the short answer is yes.. the longer answer is a qualified yes, with some caveats.
the short answer is yes because jehovah’s witnesses teach that jesus is michael the archangel, their leader, eldest and most powerful, and have taught this since the very beginning of the religion.

Just a note, when I make a post, I am not supporting WT ideas, merely reporting them, I say hang them with their own words.

I wonder what pull you have to have to get "selected" to do this easy assignment. Probably was easy hours, but not so since hours need not be reported any more.

"A Jehovah's Witness"
by NotFormer ina very certain distinctive of jws is how they refer to themselves.
"one of jehovah's witnesses".
it's one of those coded jargon thingies.

LHG, people who spread these rumors cannot not identify who told them this...someone's SIL, who heard it from her best friend, who heard it from an elder, who heard it from a CO, who heard it from a GB member, all unnamed.
So many rumors were flying around the WTS membership, that the WTS had to have a study article in 1984 just about that, but without directly saying it was a problem in their organization. (WT 9/1/1984 p. 20-23) a small quote "Who told you the story? Is he the sort of person who never says something unless he is sure of his facts? Or is he always trying to pry into other people’s affairs? Is he trying to be first in coming up with juicy stories? The source of the story makes a big difference as to whether it is likely to be accurate or not. And this brings to mind a related point: Those in positions of trust or responsibility, such as elders in a congregation or mature Christian women, should be doubly sure of the facts before passing on a story, if they need to pass it on at all. People are more likely to believe what they say and repeat it." (but of course the ones doing it in the congregation had excused to keep doing the telling of rumors)

How many JW in the 1920's
by xaminewt ini'm trying to find out how many jw there were globally in 1924, 1925, 1926, 1927 and 1928. the watchtower of 1926 says that there were 25,000 in attendance at the magdeburg convention for the public address, but the same watchtower say that one the last day of the convention there were 15,000 present, so i assume at least 10,000 were interested persons - non jw.
the watchtower 1955 says: "for this year of 1927 the number in attendance at the spring memorial internationally was 88,544, yet of these only some 18,602 were active as house-to-house kingdom announcers".
these statistics would seem to imply that the majority of jw in 1926 were at the magdeburg convention.

In 1925 I think the number of partakers was about 95,000 (Bible Students then) all considered anointed, so the worldwide membership. After the end did not come in 1925 as predicted by the WTS, the next memorial in 1925 was about 25,000 partakers (members). I don't think membership worldwide, did not reach 1,000,000 until around 1965 "During this past service year of 1965 there were 24,158 congregations in more than 190 lands, and a monthly average of 1,034,268 publishers from among the remnant and the “other sheep.” (WT February 15, 1966 p. 122)

How would you rate the Watchtower approved songs?
by Vanderhoven7 ini was asking why jws won't sing any church hymns even if they were doctrinally correct.
jws asked me in response if i would sing any of their songs.. dan watkins wrote .
its a hilarious misunderstanding, if it does not come from the watchtower bible and tract society, then it is effectively considered as coming from satan.

When I was a jw, I played piano, organ at the KH and circuit assemblies. I was even in the WT orchestra. The music is more and more "simplified" by the WTS and not for the good. Jws tend to be poor singers because the only place they sing is at conventions and the KH. The piano was replaced with recordings, and the way singing works is the piano keeps a pace to accommodate the singers abilities. Not enough qualified piano players evidently. Songs were better in the beginning, the WTS even took songs used by other christian religions and added new "appropriate" lyrics. I expect a deeper descent into mediocrity.

Note these statements, Archangel means Chief Angel
Jehovah also appointed an angel “who was going ahead of the camp,” guiding the nation into the Promised Land. Evidently, that angel was Michael—Jesus in his prehuman existence.—Ex. 14:19; 32:34.
(WT February 2024, p. 25)
. Jesus may have been the angel who guided the ancient Israelites through the wilderness and whose voice the Israelites were strictly to obey.—Exodus 23:20-23.a
a The Word is not the only angel through whom God spoke. For example, he used angelic sons other than his Firstborn to transmit his Law to the ancient Israelites.—Acts 7:53; Galatians 3:19; Hebrews 2:2, 3.
(ijwbq article 160)
Michael is “the archangel.” (Jude 9) The title “archangel,” meaning “chief of the angels,” appears in only two Bible verses. In both cases, the word is singular, suggesting that only one angel bears that title.

(WT 10/1/1955 p. 598)
Michael is the only one said to be “the archangel,” meaning “chief angel,” or “principal angel.”
· (Insight book 2, pp. 393-394)
The archangel, Michael, is the chief angel in terms of power and authority.

Disfellowshipping and Excutions
by blondie in*w60 2/1 80 - 17 there may be rare instances where a child is so hardened in its stubbornness that even the rod of correction cannot drive it out.
in the days of israel parents were instructed by jehovah to take such a rebel to the city fathers and they, in turn, took the incorrigible one out and stoned him to death.
there were no juvenile delinquents under such a system.

I was going D2D one day, alone but with a group. I knocked and a very angry man came to the door. He said, "Why do you people kick out your children when they become pregnant out of wedlock! My neighbor kicked out his 15 year old daughter and told her to fend for herself!" I was stunned, I had never known a jw that did that, but then there were jws that had their own "standards" that did not agree with the official for the public knowledge version. He said he had taken her into his family's home and called social services to get this young woman help. I said I would do all I could to help since I worked with Child Services. I am sure that many and everyone he knew got the real picture about jws. Things worked out, they found a nice family for her and I ran interference with the jws from my official capacity. I was so embarrassed, one more step towards leaving the WTS for me.
