The best to do is tell them you are an apostate, but that may cause other problems for you depending on your status and family in the WTS.

Discouraging JWs From Calling
by NotFormer ini was reading an anti cult reddit post where a woman (ex mormon) was trying her hardest to discourage the mormons from visiting her and trying to convert her back.
a few others chimed in about their various methods (coming to the door naked, pretending to be practicing black magic, etc.
) which they claimed would have the mormons and jws running away as fast as possible.. somehow, i doubt it.

gossip
by Nancy1919 ini was once was told by an jw elder it was a rule not to gossip or swear as it could harm someone, but i guess the new light allows this.
it was bad enough when they were calling people worldly now i heard a jw gossiping about someone and it was mean.just another reason i would never go back.

I found that jws with close contacts with those with "confidential" info were the first to spread it. And if not, they just made up stuff and passed it on. Elders and their wives were the biggest offenders. Yes, gossip still exists for is more prevalent than ever. Welcome, Nancy!

Reddit thread: ‘This Cult is Dying and it Brings Me Joy’
by LongHairGal inthis is an excellent thread to read that i saw yesterday and the poster hits the nail on the head and tells it so well.
he is really knocking pimi witnesses and has a lot of well deserved criticisms about them.. he says he hopes at this point that they never wake up….

Konagirl, I was thinking more in monetary payment. The WTS in court says they have the clergy-penitent privilege in not reporting sexual abuse in the congregation to an outside source. For many years, the WTS has said they don't have a clergy class. But that got in the way of the WTS claiming protection under the clergy penitent privilege.
What is the clergy-penitent privilege?A form of privilege that protects from disclosure to third parties communications between a member of the clergy and a person who seeks spiritual counseling. A person seeking to invoke the clergy-penitent privilege typically must show that: The communication was made to a clergy member. So how the WTS uses Weasel words to say they don't have a "paid" clergy but they have a clergy...wow. It is legal quibbling but jws and ex-jws. remember the WTS long describing themselves as not having a clergy class. -

Revising History
by no-zombie inwhile i'm aware of wt books being revised without noting the differences on newer editions (the truth book is a classic example of this) ... is there evidence of the writing committee revising the online versions of wt articles, as compared to the printed editions?.
if there is a previous thread on this topic, just link it ... as these is no need to reinvent the wheel.. thanks.

I found many references to "present truth" as far back as Russell's time but none saying "current truth" not that elders might independently use that phrase.
Revelation book chapter 1 p8 (on most recent WOL online)
An even stronger reason for publishing this book is the need to keep up-to-date with present truth. Jehovah is continually shedding greater light on the meaning of his Word, and we can expect that our understanding of Revelation, along with other prophecies, will be sharpened as we draw closer to the great tribulation. (Matthew 24:21; Revelation 7:14) It is important that we be well informed. As the apostle Peter wrote concerning divine prophecy: “You are doing well in paying attention to it as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until day dawns and a daystar rises, in your hearts.”—2 Peter 1:19.

PREPARE TO GET PELTED BY SYMBOLIC HAILSTONES
by raymond frantz inhttps://youtu.be/idhmflud3p4?si=9xc4svrhxslduwvz.
so david schafer a member of the teaching commitee and a helper to the governing body has come out yesterday with a new video that goes through the king of the north, the hailstones message and other things in the wake of the possibility of a ww3 and especially now that tensions are escalating with russia so he is making quite a few end time arguments and i will be expanding on those one by one but today let's see what he has about the hailstones message of the end(video) so this is the paragraph in question, paragraph 14 from article 20 of the watchtower 2020 study edition: "sometime after the start of the great tribulation, “the kings of the entire inhabited earth” will form a coalition of nations.

In the October 2019 WT p. 16, the WTS said "may" backing away leaving a gap to escape through: " During the great tribulation, the message that we proclaim will likely change. Currently, we are preaching the good news of the Kingdom and we are endeavoring to make disciples. But at that time, we may well deliver a message as hard-hitting as hailstones. (Rev. 16:21) We may proclaim the impending doom of Satan’s world. In time, we will find out exactly what our message will be and how we will deliver it. Will we use the same methods we have used for over a hundred years to accomplish our ministry? Or will we use some other methods? We will have to wait and see. In any case, it seems that we will have the privilege of boldly proclaiming Jehovah’s judgment message!"
2020 May WT p.15 "That symbolic hailstorm may take the form of a hard-hitting judgment message delivered by Jehovah’s people. It could be that this message provokes Gog of Magog into attacking God’s people with the intention of wiping them off the earth."
2023 June WT p.6 pp13 During the great tribulation, elders will need courage to obey instructions they will receive—regardless of the dangers involved. The instructions may relate to delivering a symbolic hailstone message and to surviving the attack of Gog of Magog.

The WTS uses the phrase "paid clergy" to differentiate from this statement is 1971: w71 6/1 p. 330 par. 10 - "Another reason why many feel there is no place for them in the service of God is due to the clergy-laity distinction that is fostered in the churches. However, there was no clergy-laity division in early Christianity, and there is none today in true Christianity. The setting apart of a clergy class dates back to Babylonish, pagan worship. No precedent for it is found in the ministry of Jesus or his disciples."
We do not have a paid clergy in our organization "Weasel Words" (2012)
Yet in 2021 "In contrast, true worshippers of Jehovah have no clergy."
2010 "
The clergy-laity distinction
“All you are brothers,” said Jesus to his followers. (Matthew 23:8) The early Christians, including the Bible writers, had no clergy class. This Biblical pattern is the one that Jehovah’s Witnesses follow.
