Officially appointed MS, probably not, but do all the duties of an MS, but without any recognition. In the long ago past of the WTS, many congregations were all women. So they would wear head coverings and do the duties except those that required an elder, then one was assigned from another congregation or directly from headquarters, or the equivalent of a circuit overseer back then. -
Clergy Accountability Current Development
by blondie insome how this most important part was cut off and i can't edit it "in 2024, the archdiocese of seattle refused to release documents related to clergy abuse, citing court-upheld exemptions under the charitable trust act.
the case is now on appeal.
however, other religious organizations, including jehovah's witnesses and the church of jesus christ of latter-day saints, also rely on the exemption to shield themselves from accountability in reporting abuse.. "abuse thrives in silence," said mitch melin, a former member of jehovah's witnesses.

Clergy Accountability Report Child Secual Abuse
by blondie inthere a group is fighting in the legal area to make clergy accountable to report child sexual abuse cases https://www.morningstar.com/news/pr-newswire/20250127ph04780/clergy-accountability-coalition-urges-support-as-legislature-renews-battle-over-clergy-reporting-bill-sb-5375-amid-fierce-catholic-pushback "if passed, sb 5375 would align washington with six other states—new hampshire, north carolina, oklahoma, rhode island, texas, and west virginia—that mandate clergy to report knowledge of child abuse, including information disclosed during private religious rites like confession.
washington is one of only five states where clergy are not required to report child abuse under any circumstances.
" for the past three years, the catholic church and catholic state lawmakers have fiercely opposed similar legislation, even as the church remains under investigation by the attorney general's office for clergy abuse and institutional concealment.

Canada exploring changes to tax rules that exempt religious organizations
by Scully inhttps://www.christianpost.com/news/evangelicals-oppose-removal-of-tax-status-in-canadian-proposal.html.
the proposed change will revoke charitable status of canadian churches who have an anti-abortion position, and will not give tax exemptions to organizations whose sole claim is to promote religion, which is the basic claim for all jw related entities in canada.
this will be interesting!.

Vidiot, "would just make ‘em look like a bunch of numbskulls." Too late! The WTS has done that so many times.

Black people will be white in the new system
by bluecanary inone of the more ridiculous and offensive things the wts has ever taught and that is saying a lot.. i know i saw a link to this article sometime in the last two weeks but i've lost it!
can anyone direct me to this article?.

jhine, in the early days of the WT publications, prior to 1950, very few if any black people were pictured. Even in Russell's days the conventions were segregated by race, because of the laws in the South (Jim Crow). Gradually the WTS got in step with the times and the laws changed. https://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/quotes/black-skin.php

Rutherford got SOMETHING right - in 1923......
by BoogerMan in....but then he fulfilled a "prophecy" from " a few good men" - he couldn't handle the truth!.
christians were witnesses of christ in 1923, but a new brand name light in 1931 "adjusted" that thinking!.
watchtower february 1 1923 - "did jesus succeed in his mission in seeking the lost?

Good catch, BoogerMan. Even in the RNWT the only place it says witnesses of Jehovah is in the Old Testament, Isaiah 43, addressed to the Jews who were still considered at the writing to be worshippers of Jehovah. In the New Testament, it is always "witnesses of Jesus" and versions of that.

Whatever Happened to Those who returned to JEHOVAH
by raymond frantz inhttps://youtu.be/3yylzu0bi_k?si=kku6r9szfenj3h9i.
whatever happened to those who came back to jehovah?
due to slow growth and the constant scrutiny from governments like norway in relation to their harsh disfellowshipping practices, last year in a move that no one expected the watchtower for the first time extended an olive branch to all those who left the organization or were disfellowshipped in the past.considering this practice was introduced over 60 years ago and with a rough estimate that around 100,000 leave jehovah’s witnesses every year the total number is in the several millions.so we should have expected millions to have accepted this invitation and rejoined the organization, the result though was an abysmal few thousands according to a recent jw update.. so now, for the first time, the latest watchtower study magazine for april 2025 gives us an inside view on how this reintegration is coming along, and it doesn't look good!.

Duran, I think KerryKing was addressing those words to people who do read and believe that Jesus was a real person, using to suggest that they look at the people in their own congregation. That is what I do, say words to get people to see the wolves within the own religious group. Keeping in mind that the audience in mind are those who believe Jesus is real to them and their bible is from god.

How to spot wolves in sheep's clothing!
by BoogerMan inw64 11/1 pp.
645-646 wolves in sheep’s covering - "can you detect them?
how can you avoid becoming their prey?....to his first-century disciples jesus sounded a warning that applies to us today with even greater force: “look out that you are not misled; for many will come on the basis of my name, saying, ‘i am he [anointed],’ and, ‘the due time has approached.’ do not go after them.” (luke 21:8) .

jhine, there are people like this in all religions, feeding off their fellow members, but it is most betraying when it is within an organization you thought was on your side..

Actually elders do keep secrets from other elders, mostly new ones not knowing the tactics yet, but even elders keep secrets from long-time elders. Like agreeing to something in private at an elders' meeting and then announcing what the chief elder wants not what was voted for. Many, many secrets, not in every congregation but in too many. Even secrets from the circuit overseer. (a more appropriate word is "lies")
"the elders have absolutely no idea what goes on."
