St George of England "my greatest worry is that I may just survive. Just imagine living forever with only JW's on earth. That's not paradise, that's hell on earth!" I actually told that to some elders after we had discussed all the very unloving things done to me and others by fellow jws. I told them I didn't want to live forever with them. Did not argue with me on that point.

Did the WT Policy on Lying Bother You When You Were a JW?
by Sea Breeze inhere's the wt standard for lying: "while malicious lying is definitely condemned in the bible, this does not mean that a person is under obligation to divulge truthful information to people who are not entitled to it" - insight pp.
244-245. vs. websters dictionary:.
lie, noun.

Scully, of course, the GB decides and tells the rest of the jws who is "entitled." The WTS uses the concept by not telling its members about child sexual abuse. Even with the letters to the congregation from the GB, don't have the same info as that sent to the elder body. That floored my husband when he became an elder, even asked why they were different. Told that some info was not meant for the rest of the congregation...

What is the Craziest Thing You Are Aware Of Someone Being Disfellowshipped For?
by Sea Breeze ini knew a lady who was disfellowshipped for 20 years for smoking.
she finally went back to the kh and since they couldn't find her paperwork, (all the former elders were dead) she was allowed back in without reinstatement.
no one even remembered her.

I wonder if this was what they used? But then I wonder if they would still do it the same now? Remember it is 3 elders from one BOE, and wonder if they put the facts in the report to headquarters?
WT 2006 9/15 p. 9 The decision of the elders investigating the case should be based on the Scriptures and the clearly established facts—an admission by the driver and/or the testimony of two or three reliable eyewitnesses. (Deuteronomy 17: 16; Matthew 18:15,16) If bloodguilt is established, a judicial committee should be formed. If the committee determines that the bloodguilty person is repentant, he will receive appropriate reproof from the Scriptures and will be restricted as regards privileges in the congregation

Is there a new rule regarding disfellowshipped people?
by HOTB indoes anyone have any information about a relaxing of the rules regarding family reaching out to disfellowshipped members?.
i've heard of an elder being openly in touch with a long time disfellowshipped family member.
apparently the term 'compassionate view' had been bandied about.. i can't find anything relating to this.. i'd be interested what the new rule is in when came into play.. hotb .

NotFormer, this is only a small sample. I knew jws from that era who still continued long after sharing these thoughts with newer jws who thought that person was "off their rocker." I had access to the copies of the Golden Age in my family's personal library, it was better than the "funny papers" as comics were once called. This was enlightening: Golden Age 1920 Jan 7 p.241
"Even in the case of the human family, if the father and mother are of different races the children are sometimes unfit for brain work. Wonderful are the fixed laws of God." -

Edit to say that the WTS does NOT recognized baptisms of other religions.

HOTB, you might read over this link which a timeline about the past and now current changes to disfellowshipping. It came out in a August 2024 WT study article, which was studied at the Watchtower Study meeting. https://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/disfellowship-shunning.php Here is how it starts out but the development of this change follows: "Removed not Disfellowshipped - Aug 2024 Change in terminology
Page 27 of the August 2024 Watchtower stated that the word disfellowshipped will no longer be used, and instead be referred to as “being removed from the congregation.”
This is simply a cosmetic change, as the reasons to remove an individual remain the same and continue to require shunning that person. (A minor change is a disfellowshipped/removed person may be greeted at meetings.) Information throughout this article discussing disfellowshipped individuals continues to apply to “removed” individuals.
For information regarding why this change occurred see footnote. (1)
