Without the "bodily reserrection of Jesus" there goes the "Trinity"
by booker-t inthe other day i ran into a jw elder that i knew many years ago as a teenager when i was a "devout" jw and he who has been a "devout" jw for over 40 years started to debate with me.
i tried to avoid him because i have basically stopped debating with jw's on the bible but since we both were at the "dmv" there was a long waiting period.
the elder started on the "trinity" doctrine and said that "born-again christians" hold onto the "bodily reserrection of jesus" doctrine not because they believe it but because they use it as a"magic wand" whenever that cannot answer scriptures that show jesus is less than the father.

We are created in the likeness of God. We are body, soul, and spirit.
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: becasue many false prophets are gone out into the world.
Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is the spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now alreaady is it in the world.

The song book of the 50's had tunes from hymns that were taken from other religions with the words changed. Imagine my surprise when I went to a Baptist Church and they were singing tunes I knew. They still played the piano back then too. After I left they started using phonograph records.

Why are beards so bad?
by bother_forever inwhats with the idelology behind jws that "bro's" with beards are undeserving of privledge and advacemet in their f**cked up org?
what jesus never had facial hair?
i remember hearing comments like " yes he's a lovely bro, but he'll not be used by the cong because he needs to shave his beard".

Hey hillbilly
A sister from Boliver, Tenn (who move from some enlighted area, as the need was great in TN) offered this gem about facial hair, at a Bookstudy one night.
"...men who grow facial hair have latent homsexual tendecies"... Sister Willis
I too moved from some "enlighted area" to where the need was great to Memphis, TN in 1958.
Was Sister Willis' first name Ann?
Oh, and Jesus didn't shave... perfect men back they could not grow beards and they were a sign on imperfection. I don't know how they explained that away as I had already left when Jesus beard grew.

This is my dear mom and I wonder how she's taking it. She's terrified of death, hated getting older. She absolutely believed she'd never die and is now in her 80's. I don't know if the generation change comforted or distressed her (she would never share "spiritual" thoughts with me).
Mine too. Mine seems so bitter and fatalistic, but continues loyal to the org. I just don't know what to say to her any more.

This has got to be the most laughable piece of hypocracy to date.

Watchtower Blotch of Alpha and Omega interpretation
by Ticker innow to cover a point of a different nature but one i feel very important, a point in which the society has deliberatly tried to gloss over in their manipulating of scripture.
we see in rev.
1:7,8 a mention of the alpha and omega, the one who is, who was, and who is to come.
-
SallySue
I've always found the Society;s Alpha and Omega interretation to be faulty.
Thank you for pointing this out so beautifully.
How can they claim Jehovah is the First and the Last while the Bible says Jesus is the First and the Last.

Why would someone who has disassociated allow their child to be taken to KH
by Agnes ini just read the listeners post about baptisms at the district conventions and didn't want to disrupt the thread.
i'm curious, why would someone allow their child to attend the kh or district convention and possibly be pressured into getting baptized?

I would rather let my child play with poisonous snakes than go to the Kingdom Hall.

360 things you MUST BELIEVE in to be a Jehovah's Witness...
by inquirer inif you don't believe in the 360 points mentioned in the "bible topics for discussion," {at the back of the nwt} you aren't a jw?
[if there is just one point, just one little, etty bitty point... goodness me you can't be a jw!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
] yeah, i don't think it's on the watchtower program... just in the printed nwt only.

The JW new world system scum
by greendawn inwe now know that the new system of things as imagined by the jws is a myth, a poison that's meant to seduce the unaware into the org so that they can then be controlled, abused, and exploited.
but during the time when you were taken in by the myth what sort of things were you imagining about this delightful new world and your participation in it?
or perhaps deep down you never really believed it and ignored it.

When I was in, we were told to pick out the biggest house belonging to a "worldly person" because we could take it over. That was, of course, after we kicked their dead body and said, "Told ya!"
