Are You a "Better" Person Since You've Left The Witnesses???
by minimus inhonestly, are you a better person now or were you a "better" person when you were a jw?

I left her speechless...
by Dawn ini was talking with my mom the other day and we got on the subject of my father's funeral.
it old her that one of the reasons my son did not ever want to go back to the kh was because of how i was shunned, even at my dad's own funeral.. she said "i know, he just doesn't understand" - i replied "no - he knows why - he just doesn't believe that's what jesus would have wanted".
she had no response to that.

Way to go, that's a great comeback (will have to store that away for future reference).

DF'D WITNESS GETS THE BETTER OF DUB
by Mary inoh man, this is hilarious.......a friend of mine who left the borg a few years ago and is now df'd, was making a delivery (he's a truck driver) to a company where they're all witnesses.
he knew they were dubs, but they had no idea he used to be one.
as he was finishing his delivery, one of them says to him "did you know that jesus did not celebrate his birthday on december 25th?

I can't for the life of me think of anything that wasn't already mentioned, but I had to say that I'm in stitches reading all of these. Not quite sure if it's funny or just sad . . . I had no idea how bizarre it all sounded when I was 'IN'.

I can totally relate to everything you just wrote. I have been away from 'The Truth' for 8 years or so now, the whole time thinking it was ME that had the problem, that I was just weak. I have been walking around with guilt on my shoulders for as long as I can remember. It is only within the last couple of months that I have come to the full realization that they are all wrong. It is devastating to realize that you have been deceived. It does get better, but I don't know that I will every truly 'forgive and forget'. Hang in there and know that you are not alone!

Reverse Shunning
by redskymedic ini'm thinking of telling my mother i can't talk to her anymore sine i don't agree with how she is conducting her life.
occasionally, i'll meet up with her and my jw aunt (they work together) with both kids in the car.
my aunt will come over to check out my baby but completely pretend that i'm not even there.

I'm thinking of telling my mother I can't talk to her anymore sine I don't agree with how she is conducting her life. Not that it would phase her in the least, but I am downright tired of her condescending attitude. She sees my 12-yr old son a few weekends a month and seems to make a point to have me go out of my way for the exchange. I also have a 6 month old daughter that she likes to visit . . . hmm, maybe I should call her a bad influence and tell her to stay away unless she comes to her senses.
Occasionally, I'll meet up with her and my JW aunt (they work together) with both kids in the car. My aunt will come over to check out my baby but completely pretend that I'm not even there. Next time I'm going to flat out tell her that we no longer 'associate' with JW's and she's not allowed to even so much as peek at my daughter. These people make me nuts. Oh, to keep my sanity around the insane.

I feel for you, I still have issues on occasion with my mother and my 12-yr old son. My son does a pretty good job of ignoring it all or just appeasing her when he's alone with her. It does get under my skin, though. You'd like to tell them to give up already and move on with their life.
