The best thing any active Witness can do is go back and read all the Watchtower magazines starting with Zion's watchtower 1879 and read to where they started "believing". If they still think God is using the Watchtower, there is absolutely no hope for them.

So saying "this is not the time to plan a career, raise children or spend time in the mundane things that make up this world" is what they were saying in 1969 Awake may 26 page 15 "If you are a young person, you need to face the fact that you will not grow old in this present system. Bible prophecy indicates this system is due to end in a few years." Those "young paople" are at least 57 now.

it has been well documented that some extreme cults have be able to isolate their memebers and then have them kill themselves because of their beliefs.. the dubs has always looked at these cults as being mislead by the devil and the dubs would never do anything as drastic a mass suicide.. however as a child i remember thinking that at the begining of the great tribulation, the fds might tell us to run, or congragate somewhere isolated and we would actually leave with on the clothes on our back, and anyone not heeding this warning would be killed at the battle of "armefogotten".. if the fds could get the dubs to leave their home and familes, bascially their lives behind, isn't it just a small stretch to think that a desicion to end ones earthly life could be the next request?.

also remember that particularily the jim jones event, some members had to be physically forced to drink the kool - aid while others freely drank.. does anyone else think that because of the power that the wbts has over it memebers, if they decided to do something drastic, many of the members would just blindly comply?

Pratt, yes I have thought along that line also. I worry about it a lot because I have kids and grandkids in it just like so many others.

Jeffro, Scholar will never give you an accurtate tabulation of the Neo- Babylonian kings. He will ignor anything that proves the Society wrong.

Elderwho, since no one has given you the Neo-Babylon kings list i will. Hope this is what you were looking for. All you have to do is count backwards. The Watchtower Library2001 CD has quotations from WTS articles and books which show the WTS itself has agreed with secular historians regarding the names and lengths of reign of the kings. The Watchtower 1965, January 1, page29 says Evil-merodac reigned 2 years and Neriglissar reigned 4 years. Nabonidus took the throne until Babylon's fall in 539. Their Insight Books show Nebuchadnezzar 43 years and Nabonidus 17 years. Add these years together and it is 66 years. If you don't want to count backwards by adding 17 years to 539 = 556 add 4 years =560 add 2 years =562 and add Nebuchadnezzar's 43 years =605. You can just add 66 to 539 =605. History says 605 was Nebuchadnezzar's first year to rule. WTS says 624 was his first year but you can not get 539 using 624. 2 Kings: 25: 8 says " it was in King Nebuchadnezzar's 19th year when Jerusalem was laid desolated. Starting with 605 as the first year down to 587 =19 years. So Jerusalem was desolated in 587 not 607 as WTS states. WTS is off 20 years. Of course they will deny this but their own publications prove them to be what they are "LIERS' Revelation 22 : 15 is what they have to look forward to.

I'm new here and have lots of questions

hello, i am new to this board, i am not a jehovahs witness however i studied with them for years, i went out into service a couple of times, but i havent done anything in 4 years.

i am so confused.

i always have been scared of the last days thing, but i could never accept the fact that while i was in the meetings, my husband and parents were all at home and the witnesses would tell me that unless they changed and started coming to the meetings that they would be killed!

Jaada, that "last days thing" is a scare tactic to keep you in. They have been saying the end was near since BEFORE 1914. In fact 1914 was when it was going to end first and when it never, they said 1918, 1925 1975 and so many others. Luke 21 : 8, Jesus tells us "many would be saying "the time is at hand" [King James] The new world Translation says "the due time has approached" and Jesus added "Do not go after them." God is not using any religion on earth, they are nothing but Big Businesses that hid behind the Bible. At Luke 10: 25-28, Jesus tells us what we need to do to get life. Verse 36 and 37 he tell us we should be treating others like we would want to be treated. The 1974 Kingdom ministry said "Reports are heard of brothers selling their homes and property and planning to finish out the rest of their days in this old system in the pioneer service. What a fine way to spend the SHORT time remaining before the wicked world ends."

i know that i have not been on this discussion forum for quite a long time, and to anyone that might have messaged me, i'm sorry if i didn't get back to you and i will still try to.

i kept very busy with school, and then after my finals i had so much going on with family members visiting from out of town for christmas, new year's and a couple of birthdays in the family.

i hope everyone had a great christmas and i was hoping that you could help me out with something.. i am trying to collect as many articles and publications from the watchtower society that frown upon college and higher education as possible (don't ask why, it's just a little personal project of mine).
