Shepherding Call
by 95stormfront injust what the hell do i have to do to get my wife to understand that i do not welcome these type of visits?
one elder made several calls to her asking when would be a good time to come by for a visit, yet, when they (plural) get to my home, it's me their primarily interested in talking to.
hell....i didn't ask for a visit and have told them on more than one occasion that i'm entirely satisfied with my life as it is and that if or when i need any assistance from them that i will call them?

WT desparate: Aug 15 WT- In Our Next Issue: When A Loved One Leaves Jehovah
by truthseeker inno, i don't have this article yet, it will appear in the sep 1, 2006 wt.
it may even be a wt study article.. in the august 15 watchtower, the box "in our next issue" has three forthcoming articles, and one of them is "when a loved one leaves jehovah".
of interest, it's not when a loved one leaves the society, it's jehovah.. will keep you posted.

Interesting to note that they only allow 2 reasons why their kids would leave the truf... The kids themselves are disobedient, or the parents made mistakes and should pray to God for forgiveness...
More GUILT, GUILT, GUILT...Do not give up hope. Love “hopes all things.” (1 Corinthians 13:7) Ken, mentioned above, says: “When our children left the way of the truth, I thought that it was like their death. But after my sister died, my view changed. I am grateful that my children are not literally dead and that Jehovah continues to leave the way open for them to return to him.” Indeed, experience has shown that many who have left the truth eventually do return
This may keep some parents with fader children from viewing them as "zombies" and keep the lines of communication open.
Other than that , I found this article repelling, for all it does is reinforce the idea that no could possibly leave the org in good conscience and/or be happy about it. -

Blondie, I was wondering about similar phrases in other religions that are used in the same way as the dubs use "new light" to describe their ever changing doctrine.
I just wanted to point out the similarities that exist within many religions that view changes as being directed by God, supposedly to clarify views, and at the same time not admit they were ever wrong. -

The cruelty against me can be classified as fair or unfair?
by ann in Texas infirst excuse my spelling throughout this piece.this issue has a lot of back history that is needed to understand it, so please bear with the long summary.. i am currently still a jehovah witness, on paper; i have not attended a meeting for over 6 months.
i was reproved about 7 months ago.
because i questioned their actions, and i had influence over others.

Hi Ann. I'm sorry to hear you're in a tough spot right now, but the more stories I read here the less I'm suprised by them. I'm assuming that your fiance did get disfellowshipped and he sought for an appeal but was refused. There are further ways to get these things appealed, but before you and your fiance attempt that, there are a few questions you would do well to consider:
First off I'm a bit biased, as I feel most emotionally mature people would do much better away from the Witness culture, and I feel that God has nothing whatsoever to do with this organisation either (but it can take a while to come to this conclusion too) That said,
1. How do both your families feel about these proceedings? Do they feel the elders made the right call? Or is there also some resentment with how you and your fiance were treated? If yes, that would make any decision to fade that much easier...
2. Are you really sure of your feelings toward your fiance? The reason I ask, with all the turmoil surrounding you right now, perhaps it would be best to at least put on hold any marriage plans for now, so as to make sure of your own feelings (as the paramount issue), so as to not end up rushing into a marriage with too many unresolved issues.
I know it may feel like putting your life on hold, but there are still lots of things you can do with your life besides getting married and being a dutiful witness wife. Maybe one day you'll even thank those elders for freeing you from a life unlived :) -

Dub email exchange r.e. Crackdown on outside food in D.C.
by ringo5 ini for a while discounted the reports that suggested there were stern warnings against bringing in outside food and drink into the conventions.
but this email exchange from a few of my relatives concerning tim horton's coffee, which is a basic staple for the dub ministry in canada, shows that they don't mind adding any more regulations to their already extensive list!
(so far, i'm still on their email list) .

But this email exchange from a few of my relatives concerning Tim Horton's coffee, which is a basic staple for the dub ministry in Canada, shows that they don't mind adding any more regulations to their already extensive list! (so far, I'm still on their email list)
In the first email, #1 dub notes he picked up his coffee before heading in to get his seats....(not pasting this one as there are too many names)
#2 dub response:You were allowed Tim Horton’s coffee at the assembly? Ours (and the assembly the week before) was confiscated at the door, and they read stern announcements at each song, practically naming the guilty offenders. If the letter and discussions weren’t clear, those messages sure were!
Even those of us who had obediently transferred our Tim Horton’s to generic no name insulated cups felt so guilty that a lot of them went cold!
#3 dub response (she lives in Africa):Sorry, am I missing out on something here?
You mean you were not allowed to take your Tim Hortons cardboard cups into the assembly hall? My oh my…well, guess I am living in the third world for sure….you mean people sip their coffee during the sessions? Or before the session or???
Here, coffee is just kicking in as a ‘yuppee, or is it ??’ beverage..but people don’t usually eat on the streets, although it is starting .
Behind the times,
xxxxx
#1 dub reply:No! I NEVER took Tim Horton's coffee into the convention!!
I bought it as we left for the site, and drank it along theway!
In fact, i think there was almost universal obedience to the direction that we not bring food openly marked from other fast food places, into the venue.
I didn't see a Tim's cup the whole weekend, and I sure wasn't about to! But needed a fix for the day, for sure!

# 3 reply:Wow, a touchy subject obviously,,,, even xxxx sent me a message.
Ok, have a nice weekend, all, I’m working tomorrow am…feeling a bit below the weather today. And we have the CO’s meeting tonight…
Guess I will survive. Unless it is windy, now that it is cold, our garage meeting place is rather chilly in the evenings in June and July..yeah I know..wimp
See you all,
Love,

When Jesus comes back, he better not be carrying any Tim's coffee or they'll boot his ass out... -
