The quotation is taken from the King James Version which was used at the time. Modern versions of the Bible omit the word Lord in 1 Cor 15:47 because it is absent in early manuscripts. Regardless of the reading of this verse Jehovah’s Witnesses, as also the early Christians, acknowledge Jesus as Lord.

In the preceding pages the book explains that Jesus was God’s first creation and a separate being from God. In paragraph 170 it explains that Jesus was not incarnated and was not a spirit creature while on earth but was a man, and that is why the idea of incarnation is false.

The effect is hard to quantify because there will be people who have been influenced to return to JWs just because of the increased visibility in the community and the reminder that JWs are still around that the carts provide for POMI people out there. Plus advertising like this has an effect on the public in general in gaining recognition and acceptance for a message over a long period that again is hard to quantify. Persistence is paramount in any advertising campaign and JWs certainly have that.

What would happen if the religion just straight out gets outed as bad? The ORG admits to it and all the members get told to disperse
by Starlight.vee inlike the org just gives up and comes out saying that all of what they are saying is untrue and that there is no armageddon, nothing.
how do y’all think the the members still in it would react?.

Really? Examples please Slim'.
The new drama of Jesus’ life is well produced. The talks and videos about the gospels had lots of interesting background information about composition, manuscripts and so on. The visuals from Israel (aka “The Land of Jesus”) were stunning. The talks were fast-paced and informative rather than old-style haranguing. The new Jesus song at the end was pretty good. Most of the time it kept my attention in a way that previous conventions didn’t, even when I was a firm believer.

Come to that, isn’t it pretty remarkable that, over two years after the scandal broke, he still seems to be unable to find anyone both worthy and willing to share presenting his videos? He probably has fans who are willing to do it, but they are too whack-a-doodle for him to invite onto the show, and nobody he’d consider good enough to do it is interested.

He was praising the latest district convention as a quality production in a recent video. Not sure who he’s intending to appeal to these days. He’s flailing without all the unpaid workers he became accustomed to using.

Will Governing Body follow through with New Zealand Royal Commission's recommendation to publicly apologize?
by was a new boy in'following on from an apology from the prime minister, the commission recommends all faith-based leaders offer a public apology, including the pope, the archbishop of canterbury, the president elect of the methodist church, the moderator of the presbyterian church in new zealand and the head of each individual presbyterian support organisation, the general of the salvation army, the overseeing shepherd of gloriavale, and the governing body of jehovah’s witnesses.'.

Interesting clip.
It looks like a case of: we claim all the authority, but accept none of the responsibility.
Isn’t it remarkable, too, that this new GB member can be so confident expounding the authority of the “faithful slave” of which he is now a part, when until very recently the idea of who comprised the “faithful slave” was different than the current teaching. It’s all very well saying the “faithful slave” can make mistakes, but when the official position is that the “faithful slave” was wrong about its supposed own identity for most of its existence, then it becomes difficult to brush that aside. If the “faithful slave” isn’t even sure who the “faithful slave” is, why should it be trusted about important matters?
Interesting that he mentioned the light getting brighter too. I’ve not heard that for a while. Is that still the official reading of Prov 4.18?

Quakers are still very much a going concern, I was at one of their meetings two weeks ago.
Christian Scientists are in steep decline and have been for decades. I can see them folding in the UK sooner rather than later.
I think JWs are doing a good job of keeping members and even attracting a few new followers, compared with most other churches. The latest summer convention is probably the best they’ve ever held in terms of the quality of the programme. They seem to be doing well.
