i wonder if it ever happened that an elder accepted a bribe from a brother or sister caught in some bad sin and not wanting it to be public?
i don't think that's a very fair question....of course anybody can be bribed....what i'd like to know, is if anybody knows for a fact that an elder's been bribed
If the 'sinner' is a close relative of the elder(s), there won't be any necessity for a bribe. The Elder(s) will shut right up.I should know, being the daughter of an elder and getting away with all kinds of crap now and way back then.
heh, i couldn't agree more...i was an elder's kid and i hung out with some other elder's kids...wow, that shit we got away with LOL
most definitely!!!
talk about the Great Tribulation? I was told by my mother at the age of about six or seven that one day people would throw us all in jail or "drag us out into the street and shoot us."
wow, it was so long ago and i've sure done my best to repress most it...i had actually forgotten allot of those thoughts and feelings...i was totally scared sh*tless of that too....at 5 yrs old....what's maybe even more f'd up, is being born and raised a dub, you actually think that the whole world coming crashing down and 99.9% of the planet being annihilated in your life time (at least before the generational "new light") is perfectly normal
really is pretty sick for a child to have to deal with all that...it's a wonder any of us are even anything close to well adjusted now
not hating or directing this at anyone.
but if you guys hate the jw ways so much, why stick around the forum.
the internet is full of things to do.
jwbloodline,
just wanted to prove a point. nobody likes it when it's done to them..
wow, you're clever
how bout you do some *open minded* research on "the society"...not from jw stuff, and hell, not even from "apostate" stuff....i think you may be surprised...i know i was
when my father stepped down from being an elder in the congregation, due to him wanting to spend more time with the family, a lot of people were very curious as to why he did.
the shocking rumour started going around as to the reason why- my dad had been caught having gay sex in a car with another brother, and they were caught in the act by a pioneer sister in the congregation!.
on hearing the gossip dad actually couldn't speak for a whole 1/2 hour!
apparently i'm a "big time" drug dealer lol this was being spread by an elder in one of my old congo's a few yrs back...to this day i have NO idea how he came up with that; i hadn't seen him for a few yrs by that point and i'm certainly not a dealer...funny as hell, b/c, well jeez, i WISH...i could use the extra cash flow
formerout has it right, it still amazes me how prejudiced they are against "worldly" people
.
ok...we have been stocking up our liquor bar....and i saw this whisky: macnaughton for super cheap.....................(it says it is a canadian whiskey...but don't believe it........i know canadian whiskey's...this doesn't qualify).
don't buy it...don't go there...................... codeblue
we just call "Canadian Whisky" 'Rye' up here....and scotch whisky, well 'scotch'
mmmmmmm....Lagavulin
at last nights meeting my dad gave the announcements and he said bulletin board.
after the meeting an elder came up to him to tell him that bulletin is a negative word and to say information board next time.
whats up with that?
no "bolo" ties?!?!
well, that settles it...I'm never going back now!
110 input householder$.
140 input householder$.
150 if householder$ = "not interested" goto 200.
LMFAO
Nosferatu , that is GOLD!!!
careful though, i'd hate for that code to fall into the wrong hands...
my situation is getting worse, i told my parents im going to move out in 6 months once i turn 18 whether i get to go to college or enlist into the navy.
my over zealous mom says that i can move out tomorrow.
now i have lots of friends at school, ive only hung out with few not that long but ive known em forever, should i burden them with me asking to move in with them?
nope, don't move out just yet...hang in as long as you can, at least til you're out of school. BUT, i agree, if you don't already have one, get a part time JOB!! JOB = $$ = Parents with much less control.
I went thru something similar just a few yrs ago myself, ended up moving out just before my 18th day, but thankfully had a full time job and had been outta school for a couple months. the last six months living with my folks were hell on everybody, hence my leaving when i did...but what made those last few months bearable for me was having a job, so i had my own money and really didn't need my parents for anything other than what they were *legally* required to provide, ie. food/shelter. remember, pretty much no matter what you do, your parents can't boot you out until you're 18. don't get me wrong, you should respect your parents and follow their reasonable requests...but you don't have to be their bitch anymore either.
funny thing was, after i first moved out i didn't talk to my folks for a several mths even though we lived in the same city, maybe 10 miles apart...but after that initial "scare" they realized that what their beliefs are and whatever my beliefs are, it's not worth losing a family over, and now we're closer than we've ever been. of course, i was never baptized, so that helps b/c there's no shunning...
anyway, stick it out, but stick to your beliefs...who knows, your parents could come around one day
i was at university the other night in the computer lab, cruising this site, well a fellow classmate who has been in my class since sept and we have become friends, walks past, looks at the site i am on and says, "i noticed you are on a jw site, did you know i am a jw, are you one?".
i was shocked.
i turned to him and let loose,.
"JW are world known for being the first ones to aid in any disaster"
yip, i remember being fed that too....
"I have never heard of them doing that, but I hear of the Red Cross, The salvation Army, churches
EXACTLY. i've never heard on the tv news, major papers or even online news sites of JWs being a huge help in any disaster...but i sure heard allot about all of the JW disaster help from the platform!
