Huh?
I don't understand the CarPool / Baptism connection.
Am I missing something here?

JW College Girl Getting DF'd For Going To Mormons For Love
by minimus inthe new talk in the hall per my mom is that a twenty something year old sister is getting disfellowshipped because she's been attending the mormon church because she found a nice mormon boy that is interested in her.
since there are no jw eligible men around, she has gone over to the other side and will pay for it with the announcement soon.
word is---she just "needs" to get married.

Ick.
It was rather icky reading all that. To think that I sat thru years of studies and took all that to heart...
Funny. All my years in 'the truth' I was never interested in witness guys. Well maybe one or two caught my eye. But not much more. I tried but just wasn't attracted to them.
I'll take my worldly guy any day.
Mormon and JW sex. ICK. I've never had either. Don't want any, thanks.

ATTENTION District Convention Attendees!
by RichieRich inat some convention sites, there will be protests by apostates.
at other conventions, apostates will covertly slip in and leave messages on cars.
however, not everyone has the fortitude to protest nor the time.

As I commented on the other thread, you can print up a bunch of these and inconspicuously insert them in the front of various bibles scattered thru the convention. Just pretend you are looking for your own Bible/Seat.
You would not want to put them in everyone and draw attention to yourself. Just a few when not too many people are around. Then hit a different section.
Get in. Get out. Move away.
I think Richie's checks would stand just as they are.
Or...
Someone could make up something similar and reference the UN thing for placement into the various bibles. -

What is your greatest fear?
by Podiatrist injust wondering, my experience tells me that many jw live in constant state of watchfulness, bordering with paranoia.
did any of that have an effect on you?
like last week ive had a pleasure of browsing new childrens book great teacher or something (well it was new to me anyway) i was mightily surprised on the number of references to satan or devil.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing that.
I was 'raised' in the organization. My parents joined when I was 10. I believed it was the truth and even full time pioneered (90 hours per month in preaching work) plus meetings and all that while supporting myself working full time. I was quite committed.
Then I started noticing things that were just not right.
Late 20's and early 30's I started to 'fade'.
One day just up and left the Kingdom Hall. I didn't know the extent of the falicy until I found this site 6 months ago.
The 'fear' that they instill in their members does indeed come close to paranoia, as far as I'm concerned. Not trained in psychology, but I know I had some pretty paranoid tendencies.
The WTBTS paints a nice picture. But it's not real. And there is much lying and deceipt. More emphasis is placed on Appearance than Reality.
I think that is possibly more damaging to children than the fear.
There is much talk here of 'cognitive dissonance.' Many of us are in therapy to sort all that out. We have to relearn things that we believed were real.
I'm sorry you are losing family to a cult.
My father and 3 brothers are now out. Mother and sister are still in. My family will never be a real family.
Cults Suck.
Sorry for the wandering thoughts. It's late and I just let my fingers do the talking!!
Thanks again and welcome. Look forward to hearing more from you.

**I hate this religion. It can make me into a violent person sometimes.**
Actually, I can completely understand.
And my comments were a little bit fantasy. I know the fine-line you are sitting on and you are absolutely right. You need to just lay low until you are settled in your dorm (or whereever you will live).
The violent responses will hurt YOU the most though. Seems that there is less outburst than before. I think you are seeing something happier just ahead and that is helping you keep calm. Try to find peaceful and constructive ways to let off steam (deep breating, running, long walks, something physically exerting). The pent up anger will just end up hurting you in the end.
Just a few more weeks and you'll be on your way!!!!
Sorry it's so tough right now...
Hugs.

Call each one into the back room - separately.
(sorta just kidding, but not really. You'd have to keep your cool. Might just set them back on their heels a bit.)
'If your brother commits a sin, go lay bare his fault between you and him alone." - Matt 18:15
He thought he found fault in you. He could have right to you. Little tattletale.
Oh well. Whatever. You will be SOO ready for college by the time you get there!!!

**Or perhaps everyone here thinks that there's nothing wrong with idea of instilling the fear **
I'm not so sure that is the case.
I think there were not too many viewers of this thread yet.
Greatest fear....
Some us have had our fill of living in 'fear' that we are consciously looking to live withOUT fear...!!
Actually, I skipped over this heading a couple of time. Until I read you alias. 'Podiatrist' caught my attention!!!
My biggest 'fear' used to be: To not have mattered.
I didn't consciously realize that I was in 'fear' of Satan. But I was extremely suspicious of him. I remember growing up (and even as recently as 10 years ago) not wanting to verbalize any of my true fears because I thought that the demons would capitalize on the information and use it to exploit my weaknesses. I feared being found out that I wanted to be worldly. I did not fear death. I feared living with more pain that I was experiencing at the time. I feared that all that suffering would be for nothing because Armageddon would come and I would be found not good enough.
My biggest fear now. I don't know. I'll have to get back to you on that.
I agree, though. WAY too much attempts to use fear to motivate people to action. Too much fear to expose young children to.
Thanks for the thread.
And WELCOME to JWD. Wonder how you found your way here...??????
