Depends on my mood.
I stick with my real story.
Well 'part' of my real story.
I've told them that I had some friends who were witnesses (True.)
Sometimes I've said that I have some distant relatives who are witnesses. (Also true: my mom lives in Detroit; my sister lives in NJ)
I put that out there and dodge a few questions until I think up something that I really want to say or ask. They get all excited to know that I am probably 'witness-friendly'.
Now, however, I mostly ignore the doorbell and go back to sleep.

Proselytizing for the Borg
by Sith ini recently read a post written by a female jw who was obviously disenchanted with the wtbts.
she wrote about how she had been out in the door to door work recently because she had no excuse not to go, and how she had placed some magazines with a "householder".
it made me think about how just one small thing like placing wt literature with an innocent unknowing individual might eventually lead them into the watchtower trap.

** How do you justify proselytizing for the Borg when you are on your way out, knowing how much it has screwed up your life and may screw up those you help to convert? **
I did as most have said: Inefficient. Knock softly. Work with people who loved to talk. Feign illness/headache (actually no need to fake much, i felt ill to my stomache).
In my 2nd year of pioneering, I was starting to fade. I would often just use my Bible. My objective was not to place literature. Merely to stimulate bible reading. I LOVED to show people how to look up scriptures in their own bibles. It made my service time pleasant.
During those years of fading, I did not realize that was actually doing the fade. I thought it was just me. When I realized that it was them, I honestly thought Jehovah would fix things in his due time. Until then, I would wait outside the Kingdom Hall doors because I could not sit and show support by commenting or even just listening to what was being preached.
I eventually just shut my mouth to anything pertaining to god or religion. 12 years later, I found JWD.
Now I'm angry about all the lies.
But my conscience is clear. I did not perpetrate (much) of the hate and falsehood. -

The Compassionate JW
by PopeOfEruke inthe united way realized that it had never received a donation from the city's most successful businessman who is a jehovahs witness.
so a united way volunteer paid the jw businessman a visit in his lavish office.. the volunteer opened the meeting by saying, "our research shows that even though your annual income is over two million dollars, you don't give a penny to charity.
wouldn't you like to give something back to your community through the united way?".

Fun times.
Your pics brought back some good memories from decades ago and from just last year.
Back in September, my family rented a house on Emerald Isle. We flew in from LosAngeles, NewJersey and Detroit. Had a wonderful time.
Thanks for sharing with me/us!!

Jehovah'sJudgement dot com
by sf inhttp://www.jehovahsjudgment.com/ i found it here: [ http://perimeno.ca/index_a.htm ].
a terrible calamity may be about to befall us, jehovah's witnesses, in the near future.
our entire organization could be laid desolate - yet we are totally unprepared for the possibility.. .

Me and my brother.
by nicolaou inan earlier discussion has been highlighting the differences between da'ing and df'ing.
xena said:i am sorry qadreena but i have never in the 20 some odd years i have been a jw ever heard of an unbaptised publisher being d/aed...marked as bad association yes..but d/a...no...but i guess stranger things can happen.... well that brought it all back.. actually xena the exact same thing happened to my brother in the early 80's.
he was only 14. he'd carried on associating with a friend of his who'd been disfellowshipped.

**I'll never forget that night. We were both just kids, he was fourteen and I was almost sixteen. He picked up his green hardback bible, clutched it to his chest and cried himself to sleep.**
This is just heart-breaking. I'm so upset with this - crying for 10 minutes now.
Renewed anger and indignation for the WTS.
Apalling cruelty and absolutely horrifying edicts.
That poor broken-hearted little boy.

**I wonder what the author's history is that he wrote a book to expose the untruths about the JW religion?**
Lily - I wondered the same thing. There was just a very short bio on the page and didn't tell why he showed such keen interest in JWs. However, I noticed that he also wrote a book called: 'Reasoning from the Scriptures with Mormons'.
I think it would be interesting to browse the book, but I'm not up to shelling out $13. I already have my OWN reasoning...!!

A friend told me that yesterday he heard something on a radio show about JWs. They were promoting a new book to refute JW doctrine.
It has the SAME name as one of the JW books that are used to train JWs. He said it was interesting that it had the same title and wondered how the WTS would allow copywright infringement...
He didn't know the title either...!!!
Does that help anyone???????????

how to live with JW
by freefly inhey,.
my partner in life (26yrs) has been converted to jw by his mother.. i am not one to whine -as very aware many have more troubles in their life.. i suppose one of my fears has been this exactly- as i know he was raised jw and should have saw the "signs.
" he always regularly visited with his mom, which i respected as felt a good sign he had a mother/son relationship.

Hi Freefly -
Welcome to JWD. This is a great place to vent and 'come to terms' with your current situation.
I do not have much to comment right now but I know that others here certainly will.
If you look around (especially the 'Best of' section) you will find that you story is not so terribly unique.
**if you really love him you will work it out........**
In the end, you BOTH have to work together. I wish you well as you sort out what you will need to do for your own peace and sanity.
Happy to have you along.

(Raised in the organization from age 10. I was baptized at 14. Pioneered for a few years in my 20's while supporting myself. I started to fade shortly after that and have now been inactive for about 13 years. I will never go back. Not after what I've learned about WTS secrets.)
