  ever wonder what it must be like for the jws to dress up like witches and stand around a pentagram for a magazine picture.

  how about all the crosses and pagan symbols in the magazines.

  they print and distribute these images to millions.

  Someone was telling me a story of a particular shot in which one of the kids was smoking. They said it was really, really odd to have that pack of cigarettes lying on the table in one of the societies buildings.

  13 years old boy has been baptized

  13 years old boy has been baptized!

  this month i went to a circuit assembly (north/west germany) to spy what is going on and too keep me up to date with teachings and jehovah's witnesses language.

  after the assembly was over i just happened to see a father congratulating his child for being baptized.

  So compare the JW's to other religions with respect to the age of the person being baptised, Jw's look pretty good.

  But the religions who baptize infants don't cut off all contact with those people when they decide not to follow the teachings or realize that it does not harmonize with what they personally believe to be true.

  I know of 14 and 15 year olds who have been cut off from their families just when they needed them most.

  It is cruel, inhumane, and, in my opinion, criminal behavior.

  How did they dare?

  this is a very simple question which came to my mind shortly after i broke free from the jw/fundamentalistic mindset.. assuming (1) that "god" didn't do and say everything that the bible texts record him doing and saying, and (2) that the writers were not cynical, machiavelical atheists forging a "god" for the sole purpose of mind control, but really believed in their "god", the question is: how did they dare make their "god" speak and act?.

  this question, of course, is pointless to you if you believe (1) that "god" did do and say everything that the bible texts record him doing and saying, or (2) that the writers were cynical, machiavelical atheists forging a "god" for the sole purpose of mind control.. but if you are somewhere in between, as many of us are (i think), this is a fascinating question which can help us get a better idea of the true nature of faith, between passive "fear of god" and the audacity of literary creation.. any taker?

  I had been in for 30 years before i got the hell out of there and i dont recall hearing of even one death as a result of no-blood(in my area...not saying there werent cases elsewhere).Thousands of Deaths?You sure?

  Fleaman - I personally know of 3. Several have been reported in the Awake! and Watchtower magazines. I remember in 1974 a young boy named 'Joey'. I think he was in Bergen County New Jersey. We wrote letters to him in the hospital to encourage him to remain faithful. Armageddon was just a few months away and we would see him when he woke up. He died due to lack of transfusion.

  I know of 2 that accepted blood and then faced the judicial consequences. One was way back in '62 - she told me the story earlier this year. On JWD I've read dozen's of stories.

  Thousands sounds like alot. It *is* alot. I think it's a plausible # over the past 60 years or however long it's been JW doctrine.

  i've had it sitting here for about a week.. are we going to wait to open until christmas or do we get to rip open our gift with sheer abandonment when it arrives in the mail?.

  PS: How did I miss the Card Exchange??? I would have really liked to be a part of that, too. This is my first time sending cards. I'm a little nervous because I am sending some to relatives who for 35 years have gotten nothing from me. I have a dinky little 8-person list.

  i felt privileged to be invited to a special meeting which was earmarked only for publishers in good standing who had been baptized at least 25 years.

  i was baptized 28 years (yes i was quite young) and clyde was baptized 25, but he refused to go.

  it was all organization, organization, organization.

  if i told you that something bigger is on the horizon than dateline, bbc, cbc, sunday (australia), and all other tv programs which exposed the sexual child abuse cover-up by watchtower in 2002-2003, would you believe me?
