I'd travel far. Very far, in fact.
The real question for me, though, is: "How much would SPEND on travel to go to an apostafest".
Money is a bit of an issue for me right now.
Time and distance are not a concern for me at all...!
-Aude.
how far would you drive or fly to go to an apostofest?
or how far have you driven to get to one?.
i plan on going to the one in wisconsin in july........just 2400 miles round trip....... they better have cold canadian beer..... .

does anyone post here who is from northern california?
I used to have a witness friend up in Rocklin. ('Janie V')
Lost touch with her since I'm out for 13 years now.
-Aude.
recently got a visit from the elders after 2 years of being inactive.
my question is "has any of you fellow "inactivites" ever been offered a new bdc on a visit.. if the issue is so "ever lasting" life important wouldn't the elders at least ask if yours was up to date?
that's assuming they are still handed out.. just asking cause i was in a serious car accident that made the local papers.
I was told by an HLC member that they and the WTS would not give support on the blood issue to an inactive JW. Blondie
Interesting. I would guess that they would be uncertain about the patient's diligence in complying. It would be a waste of time for the witnesses to fight to support the 'no blood' decision for someone who was not consciencious in other directives of the society.
Might also expose them to lawsuits.
My first thought was that offering the new cards would be a sort of test for the inactive person. But I think it's more that they don't want to get involved in if the person is not actively seeking help with 'no blood'.

yep that's right.... the baby boy is here!
we went for a no-stess and fluid test yesterday, and as luck would have it, there was stress and no fluid.
he's 5 weeks early but he had to come out.
Congrats!!
Welcome Sebastien. You have lovely parents.
-Aude.
Currently he sleeps way too much.
Gosh. Don't ever complain about this!! Sleep is golden.
i find the topic of the 1975 end of the world scenario facinating, especially since i never lived through it.
do you old schoolers ever feel concerned that people will one day forget about what really went down?
with whitewashed tripe like the 'proclaimers' book informing dubs that it was just the false expectations of over enthusiastic apostates, are you at all concerned that the legacy of bullshit that is 1975 will be a forgotten moment in history blamed on you instead where the blame really belongs?
Don't listen to anyone who tells you that the Society didn't predict 1975; they may have been cute about not being specific in print, but that did not stop the CO's, who the society whispers to, from drumming it into our heads.
I think this is the key. They avoided printing the words: Armageddon will strike Sept/Oct 1975. But they absolutely promoted the concept with words and innuendos.
Perhaps they learned from prior writings about other false predictions and thought they could avoid trouble by not committing themselves to the written proof.
I was 'in the truth' in the 70's. My dad was PO in '75. I was terrified that we would be more seriously persecuted because of his position in the congregation. I also remember people explaining away the non-realized dream of paradise earth as just not Jehovah's time. He said it would be a surprise. We should remain vigilant. Remember, we are not serving for a date. We are serving for always. So it really shouldn't matter if Armageddon came in '75 or next year or never.
Yup I remember the 'reasonings'. I also remember the talks counting down the # of months until Oct '75.
I didn't leave because of disillusion with a false date. I left because of blatant lies, tolerance and encouragement of cruelty and hypocrisy.
Their denial that 1975 was ever an issue, and the minimizing of the breadth of impact makes me angry.

my wife was adopted and raised in a jw family, at a young age she made the mistake of being baptized.
as a teenager she was disfellowshiped only to be reinstated.
we met in collage and hit it off, and after dating (which her parents didnt know about) we decided to get married.
