Maybe because most (if not all) in attendance at Swingle's memorial were already 'sold'??

lyman swingle... tape recording... death.... farkel

"but here is the problem: i have a tape recording of governing body member lyman swingle's funeral.
it was five-odd minutes of bible discussion about the hope of the resurrection for second class wt citizens and immortality in heaven for first-class wt citizens, and a full forty minutes of eulogy and anecdotes about swingle.".

WTS Emergency Meeting
by doinmypart inthe disaster relief committee at patterson organized 3 meetings this past memorial day, monday september 5, 2005. the meetings were held in lake charles, louisiana; bossier city, louisiana; and ball, louisiana.
over 1,200 elders were in attendance from louisiana, missouri, arkansas, and texas.
i took horrible notes, but want to share a few things.. the elder opening the meeting emphasized the importance of confidentiality.

Hi y'all -
My father (DF/ex-elder) was recently terminated from his job of nearly 10 years. I don't want to give too much info at this time but am looking for insight, suggestions, comments to help point him in the right direction.
He works (oops! 'worked') for a national chain of retail stores and loves his job. He had earned the respect of higher-ups in the company over the years.
A few months ago a new department manager was assigned to his department and there has been a serious clash. My dad requested to be assigned to a different store but current store manager (to whom the department manager reports)did not want my dad to leave. (Another store already wanted him and told him they had position for him. All he needed was OK from current store.)
Few days ago department manager terminated him for 'insubordination'. My father's position is that he was being intimidated, un-supported, and pushed to behave unethically - therefore, his 'insubordinate' action.
There are, of course, other factors that I do not wish to disclose here at this time. Those other factors make it clear to me that he seems to have a legal case for 'wrongful termination.'
I am looking for comments, suggestions, experiences on (1) finding the proper attorney / representation, (2) strategies for petitioning for job back, (3) coping with being mid-60's and suddenly out of work, (4) a host of other issues that you may feel would help him get back in the work force and/or enjoy his live.
Comments? Suggestions?? Experiences??? Anyone?????
The collective experience of this Board has been amazing in helping to cope and strategize on such a wide spectrum of issues that I just KNOW this is the place to look for insite.
A sincere 'Thank You' in advance for your thoughtful assistance.

Reminds me of that episode on 'Friends' when Monica and Ross's grandmother died in the hospital. Then she sprang back to life for a few seconds.
Then died again.
And they checked - twice...!!
LOL sorry. Kwin's experience reminds me of that hehehe!!

Would you buy a new car on a 60 month loan?
by Elsewhere ini have never done a 60 month loan and i have sworn i never would... but with how much cars are costing these days i'm wondering if i will have to do a 60 month loan on my next car.
that is five frigg'in years!
i paid cash for my last car ($4,500 - 1999 ford contour se, used) so i had no payments to make.

Wow! Fun thread.
GaryBuss's post was very logical. Very Practical. Very well thoughtout and presented.
I agreed with him and generally try to follow his path.
THEN got caught up in the emotion of Else's post... LOL
What a twist of consciousness. hehe
It's a cute little car. Don't know that I'd want to make payments for 5 years, though.
How much did you say they were asking for it???????
