Fairmind: (this is the point I want to be corrected on if my memory is incorrect)
Spot on, Squire!
what does the elder manual say the procedure is when someone reports child abuse?
my father in law is telling my wife that is says to go straight to the proper authorities... i have a hard time buying that since thats not what the watchtowers i've seen have said!
any one have the low down on this?

Steve,
Were you ever instructed to destroy records or letters? I have a difficult time picturing you complying with that one.
Respectfully,
Old Soul
P.S. Tell Joyzabel and kids "Happy Holidays" and maybe we'll be able to get together again soon... there is six inches of snow on the ground right now, and more falling! Talk about a Honky Christmas!

Many people believe Jehovah's Witnesses don't believe in God - they do; that they are disrespectful to the government - they remain neutral to all situations; and they willingly let people die because of their stubbornness regarding modern medicine.
Where was the counterpoint to this one?
A regular pioneer works around 70 hours a month, said Mindy Schmidt, 18, a pioneer for Glenwood Park.
A regular pioneer alternates between coffee breaks and riding back-and-forth to the far reaches of the territory to pick up that call that slipped their mind. While listening to the Watchtower on tape (yeah, right) and patting their own back for their self-sacrificing spirit as they drive their beat-up car and can barely afford the insurance and gas <wink for jst2laws>.
"Here we get a lot of indifference and apathy," Pogainis said.
It's called passive-aggression, you silly twit.
"We can work the ways of peace and we may have to suffer but in the long run it will benefit mankind," Max said.
Translation: "We can avoid actively and intentionally hurting others as well as inactively prevent harm, but often our inaction may cause us to suffer when others notice our complacency and complicity. I have no idea what the hell I am talking about with that whole 'our suffering will eventually benefit mankind' thing. That must be a side effect of the brain conditioning, because brain washing doesn't exist."
"Because we're in hard times right now people like hearing about hope," Schmidt said. "I think because of that I've seen more receptiveness to our door-to-door work."Hard times make people do lots of stupid things, like crediting strange organizations with some mystical insight into reality that they formerly missed and are incapable of achieving on their own.
i stumbled accross this ancient booklet "neutrality of jehovah's witnesses" which is a re print of the watchtower november 1st 1939 .
note the rhetorical question at the top of the page , and the answer given at the foot of page 22 and over to 23 .
that statement shocked me !
I heard Samuel Herd (governing body member) at at circuit assembly say that if your mother is df'd, you would have as little contact with her as possible.
Modern Corban: "My time and energy is something devoted to God." Ignoring the weightier matters... tsk.

My dad was a PO for a long time and he often had papers that the instructions said to destroy completely, so he burned them... secret society? Nah! That's silly! Where would anyone get that idea?
This message will self-destruct...
when my father stepped down from being an elder in the congregation, due to him wanting to spend more time with the family, a lot of people were very curious as to why he did.
the shocking rumour started going around as to the reason why- my dad had been caught having gay sex in a car with another brother, and they were caught in the act by a pioneer sister in the congregation!.
on hearing the gossip dad actually couldn't speak for a whole 1/2 hour!
Lessee, where to begin...
That I had converted to Latter Day Saints...
That I was gay...
That I was smoking...
That I had gotten a girl pregnant in a nearby town...
That I was a government agent spying on the Witnesses (personal fav)...
That my girlfriend was reproved because of things she and I did together (ran the gamut)...
That I was an apostate (presumably bound and determined to steal sleeping children from their cribs)...
Odd thing about it is I was never reproved, never DF'd, never DA'd. Go figure.

Aye, Big Tex! But without the kilt, whar would ya be? And that begat me point about paradin' around in yer altogethers, Laddie!
You said they was optional, not me. A'course, flapping up the back for a good shine I'm not above, mind'ye. And am less above with each tilt of the glass.
ok, brobennett, you still haven't address my last post or others on the subject of "the wtbt's proactive steps at prevention child molestation.
" being familiar with the org.
since 1948, i can honestly say, never once did i hear of taking 'proactive steps' against child molestation.
very hard to compromise since it is a detestable sin
Get this through your head, please... it is hard for some to compromise because it happened to them! It makes it much more personal when it is yourself or a family member that has been abused. I was in therapy for months dealing with the trauma. My wife has never had professional therapy for her long term abuse (not by a JW) because she was already a JW when she remembered the abuse. She thought it was just molestation. For a long time she didn't even remember she had been raped. Now our elders and the WT infer that she shouldn't get professional help but she should throw herself into personal study. I encourage her to disregard them because I can get inexpensive psychotherapy for her as an employee benefit. I struggle with her insecurity and lack of self-esteem on a daily basis. She has spells of depression that last weeks and she gets suicidal at times.
You call people unkind who let you hijack threads to spout your views? Despite the fact that many of us have seen up close and personal the long-term horrible effects that molestation as a child can bring? The people in here let you talk. Praised your questions. Accepted your sarcastic crap in what can only be considered the absolute BEST form considering that they all were probably just as inspired as me to curse you a blue streak before showing you the door.
I fought that down. They did, too. For the sake of abuse survivors and their families, show some human decency. Real people - not invisible online ghosts that can't be hurt - have treated you pretty well considering your attitude in their house. Return the courtesy, ass.
do you remember all the hype about the "paradise" and then the natural questions that followed that no one has answers to... like,.
"will we have cars in the new system?
" - uh, well jehovah will provide us with whatever we need.
He is not the intervening type of God.
Good point, Jez! They take the most remarkable miracles and pretend they will be performed as the customary thing. Jehovah put A&E (no, that's not Arts and Entertainment) there to care for the garden... he didn't help 'em at all except for that wierd daily mist...
Here's another "What about..." Accordnig to JWs, Jesus was just an ordinary man. No fuss, no frills, just your basic perfect human specimen. Stop drooling girls (and guys?) he's a spirit now - you could say he's a sans gender (what a knee-slapper!). According to the dogma, he had to be to balance Adam. He walked on water. He controlled the weather with his words. He fed thousands with nearly nothing. He raised the dead.
Can all perfect humans do that?
.

Kilts are optional.
I think you accidentally posted to the wrong thread, dude. The nudity thread is around here somewhere... I know I was looking at it earlier
