Why is the Watchtower Society modelled on the Old Testament?
by truthseeker init is a fact, that the watchtower have relegated jesus christ to "just another servant of jehovah.
got a copy of "the greatest man who ever lived" book?
the only book they publish dedicated to jesus, doesn't even have his name on it.

The other Stewie wishes you well as well! No doubt you treated your subject with the gravity it deserves.
I believe literacy and reading comprehension are the most vital skills for exceeding the standard of minimal survival in our modern world society.
That said, a thorough treatment of Plank's would be an interesting read ... I would like to apply it to say ... prophecy! I have often wondered whether there is such a thing as time or whether it is just something we invented arbitrarily to help us make sense of things.

A comment I heard tonight
by Generic Man intonight i heard one of the most cruel and twisted comments i've ever heard at the platform.
the topic was the apocalypse and whether or not children will be slaughtered.
through one side of his mouth, the po stated that the bible is not clear on the matter, while out the other side he pointed to all those old testament accounts where children were killed.

What the speaker, an Elder, said is that David used deception and seemingly dishonesty to protect himself knowing what God's purpose was for him. Likewise today we may be forced to be deceptive, dishonest or even lie when engaged in spiritual warfare to protect God's name and his organization....Jula71.
Hmm. What the speaker said. Okay, an elder giving a talk that I was present at said that sitting a Bible on the floor was a gross disrespect for the Scriptures. Is he right? How do you know? An elder said the WTS ("Watch Tower Society" according to the letter I received) registered with the UN as an NGO. Is he right? How do you know?
I have one finger for the old "elder said" schtick. In the case of David, he obviously used deceit but it was not to protect God's name or his organization. It was to protect himself from physical harm.
The goal driving those who lie about the nature of the UN/DPI relationship is protecting themselves from exposure as spiritual adulterers.

According to the WTS, from Pentecost 33 CE through 1933 or thereabouts, only 144,000 people were true Christians.
According to me that is a load of dingo's kidneys.

DOES THE BIBLE CONTAIN ANY VALUABLE OR USEFUL FACTS AT ALL???
by Terry infact: a statement or assertion of verified information about something that is the case or has happened
i've read the bible many times in many ways with many methods.
but, i don't really see in it any information that contains factual material that benefits anybody.

Wouldn't it be grand if facts were all humans needed? Oops! You said apologists. I apologize.

Schizm: Reckon it might be due to your tendency to blow things out of proportion?
No. I reckon it's 'cause they have the good sense to know when someone is being tongue-in-cheek.
"Fettered" isn't a stretch. The WTS has often applied the scripture regarding "bringing every thought into captivity" (2 Corinthians 10:5, 6) to mean learning to see things the way they teach them. That they want you fettered in your thinking is not in question.
*** w01 8/1 p. 14 Make Your Advancement Manifest *** 8 First, since "oneness" is to be observed, a mature Christian must be in unity and full harmony with fellow believers as far as faith and knowledge are concerned. He does not advocate or insist on personal opinions or harbor private ideas when it comes to Bible understanding. Rather, he has complete confidence in the truth as it is revealed by Jehovah God through his Son, Jesus Christ, and "the faithful and discreet slave." By regularly taking in the spiritual food provided "at the proper time"--through Christian publications, meetings, assemblies, and conventions--we can be sure that we maintain "oneness" with fellow Christians in faith and knowledge.--Matthew 24:45.
Merriam-Webster says:
Main Entry: 2 fetter
Function: transitive verb
1 : to put fetters on : SHACKLE
2 : to restrain from motion, action, or progress
synonym see HAMPERTheir words, champ. Not mine. Why don't you write them a letter and ask them if it is okay with them for you to "harbor private ideas" about Ehud?

In My Opinion...
by OldSoul inin my opinion (for the sake of sixofnine and his propensity toward apoplexy):.
it seems to me that while there are many issues that we could address regarding the watchtower bible and tract society/governing body/congregation of jehovah's witnesses, there is one that stands out as uniquely given to ease of communication.
i would like to take this opportunity to state which issue and why, then invite open commentary.. the issue of the watchtower bible and tract society attaching itself to the un/dpi.. while i readily agree that this is minor in importance compared to matters like child molestation and failed prophecy, i see this as the easiest to bring up, the easiest to substantiate, and the easiest to demonstrate long-term gross error in.

frankiespeakin: This is a rather nasty idea but,,, How about writting a letter to the WT about thier envolvement with the UN and then signing it with the name and address of a elder. Then the society will write a letter to that elder explaining their position. That way the elder will at least know that it is true the WT did get envolved with the UN.
I know it is slightly dishonest but think of the impact this would have if many did this???Well, depending on how the inquiry was worded it could be more or less truthful.
"I have heard reports that the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society became an NGO Affiliate associated to the UN/DPI. While I find this hard to believe, nearly impossible, I felt I should check to make sure."

Brother Anyelder

Would you change your past if you could?
by John Doe ini used to live with many regrets, thinking that i'd screwed up.
recently, i've been thinking that regretting past actions is not constructive.
sure, we should base our current actions by assessing the results of our former actions, but regretting decisions we've made is, in effect, yearning to change the person we are now or rejecting ourselves.
-
OldSoul
I wouldn't. I like myself now, and if I changed my past my present would be affected in uncertain ways. I would hate to successfully change my past and become someone I didn't like.
