thank you for your inquiries regarding the barbara anderson vs. watchtower tennessee appellate court hearing, which took place on thursday, april 14, 2005. accompanied by steve and joy imhof, from panama city beach, florida, and our attorney, jerre hood, from winchester, tennessee, we drove to nashville to attend the 1:00 p.m. scheduled appellate hearing.
this hearing was requested last year by defendants in the case, and they are: the numerous corporations of watchtower bible and tract society; watchtower spokespersons, j. r. brown, and david semonian, and certain elders of the manchester, tn congregation of jws.
So, does this mean Barbara and Joe will have to pay all appellate costs of both sides if they lose this appeal? (memories of Vicky Boer, anyone???) What do you think?
If so, the WTS lawyers are very cheap. Haven't you heard? They volunteer their time.

Yep. That was my clue, Dave. Having written similar search pages I knew that should never pull up the result set, if there was an exact match search happening.

What your mindset was is up to you to decide, I wasn't meaning anything backhanded by my post. I was just noting the stark difference here. If you saw in a Watchtower that gangrene was best eaten with roasted garlic, you would have to wait for WTS to change its mind before talking about how ridiculous it was to have ever thought that to begin with.

i hope there is someone who had a similar situation and would advise to me.. my daughter veronica is 8. her mom (we are divorced) is a hard core jw.
she puts lots of pressure on my daughter for her to lead a jw approved lifestyle.
but kids are kids.

I would suggest helping Veronica to learn critical thinking and logic first. I believe that is a primary reason for the WT stand against Chess. You learn the rudiments of critical thinking through the game. Once your brain is accustomed to those paths, it becomes more comfortable applying those thought patterns to other situations.
Logic is no longer a required part of most curricula. Logic is vital for reason, however. Does your daughter respect the Bible as God's infallible Word? If so, I will gladly help you develop an ironclad line of reasoning, replete with scriptures, to help you get her to see the need to critically examine her beliefs.

ljwtiamb: I don't think that we're accurate on this thread.
I think that we are correcting ourselves on the inaccuracies in this thread, and we aren't taking many years to do it. That the process is faster has much to do with the fact that we do have to politely nod agreement to things we don't agree with. Isn't truly FREE speech grand?

Yeh, Sirona. After they admitted it, it "was all APOSTATE TRUTHS, but they were only telling the truth to beat up on the glorious ones. Damned dirty deceivers and speakers of what is hurtful, they revealed exactly what happened and they aren't careful at all of who they tell the truth to!"
