i have done up a letter to my ex asking him to cease & desist with cramming his "religion" down our sons throat and also to stop our son from calling his wife "mom" and other issues that he's in violation of our custody order with.
it was a nice letter, i told him knock it off or we're going to mediation (in our custody agreement as well) to figure it out.
this was at the advise of my attorney.
some times you don't always need to mail or send the letter. Maybe in this case you needed to write the letter. Maybe the day will come when you're ready to actually act on the issues.
In the meantime, talk to your son, keep giving him a balanced view of things. It will ultimately be up to him what he believes.
i remember being indoctrinated how "bad" the catholics were and in particular the confession practise was always ridiculed.. i was thinking about it today, if i felt guilty about something how wonderful it would be to open a confessional booth, talk to a priest, confess, he would say some words to me, tell me what to do as penace and on my way i would go.
i think their thought is that the judging is really left up to god (i hope i have that right) and then i thought about the jc committee.

personally, not one of them was a "real friend".
I had 1 best friend, absolute best friend. We did everything together, and talked every day. We pioneered, goofed off, went dancing, chased boys, took a trip to SD for unassigned territory, went to Europe. We often joked if one of us got DF'd we'd still always be friends... but then I faded away and she cut off contact with me, even before I was DF'd.
She did call me about a year and a half ago out of the blue, but only wanted to know when I was "coming back" and she didn't really want to socialize.
I always believe if I had a really true friend, we would still be friends.
now that you have all this extra time (not having to go to meetings, service, conventions, etc.
) what do you do for fun?
I have two friends that dance, one does west coast, one does square dancing... anyways, got to admit both of those girls have the best legs around. Dancing is such a great form of exercise. Good for you!
I like watching 1-2 shows a week that are my favs, otherwise I really enjoy books of all kinds, and I do believe I am addicted to the Food Network. Has anyone else got hooked? I don't make half the stuff, but I do get good ideas and good tips and I have made some of Rachel Ray's recipes... they are so good and easy.

for some exiting jw's, they are "true believers" as far as some of the key doctrines of the wtbts are concerned, but they feel trapped in an organization that seems far removed from its original principles.. do you think the bible students are a relatively healthy alternative to the wts machine?.

luke 21:28 tells us that christians living during the time of the fulfillment of the prophecies showing that the end of this system was near were to hold their heads erect as their deliverance was near.
or at least this is the way the wts has always explained this scriptural passage.

the first two seasons were excellent; seasons 3 & 4 are still entertaining, but not quite believable.
that aside i noticed some similarities in recent shows.. the muslim immigrant parents forbid their teenage son from dating an american girl.
My husband is a 24 addict. He loves that show. It's a bit too unrealistic for me, I keep seeing illogical things like the last episode I told him, "hummph the President of the US gives up on the Secretary of Defense, the SOD himself gives up and tries to commit suicide, but Jack Bauer NEVER gives up and single handedly rushes in as the only one that can save the SOD!!!" It's just too far fetched.
Anyways, it's all about being a religious fanatic. I am non-religious and married a man who was raised Baptist. We get a long wonderfully. Why can't people of other faiths marry? Is that because that would be promoting tolerance and love?
That is NOT what the WTS wants... no tolerance!!!! Everyone else gets destroyed and that is final!!!!!

My mom used to really press the issue about reading those mags, of course they didn't help me a bit. Once I grew up I did exactly what I wanted to do.

let's see, tonight we have a birthday party with a game of balderdash (sp?) with friends, tomorrow is the DINK poker night (dual-income-no-kids) ... movies (R-rated ones are fine) .. weekend trips, we don't have any agenda or things we HAVE to do or time to make up.
