today on the oprah show, chris rock was on there tooting bout how prince had an after oscar's party, with many there including himself.

I wonder how much of a part being a JW played in their crimes. I think no matter what the boys are responsible, I don't blame anyone but them for their crimes, but I wonder how much they hated being JWs and their parents for it.... how much that played into their motives.

Am I a bad person to ask Why?
by rockhound inin the light of thinking that i am a person of reason, having a measure of good sense, and not wanting to go against the flow of the main stream, i now look back and wonder "why did it take me 40 years to wake up and smell the roses" about the organization?
when the big fiasco, and i mean big fiasco, of 1975 came and went, didn't i know down deep that i had been chasing "parked cars" spiritually?
with my spiritual nose bleeding i just hung in there with the rest and didn't make a fuss.

I loved the article. I think in my case being raised as a JW, I was trained to be a good little JW and if I didn't conform we got spankings in the hall for acting out, talked to by the elders, counseled, all sorts of correction all the dam*n time. Now yes you can question, but for a lot of JWs it means their whole family, their whole livelihood (when in business with other JWs) and it can be tough to say "hey these questions might change my entire world"
It takes a lot of guts to leave. So if it took 40 years or 40 days, it doesn't matter, you are out. That is the point. You came around.
Life moves forward, just remember that. Don't dwell too long on the "what ifs" in the past.... start planning the "what ifs" in the future. What if I got on a train and visited NYC, or what if I went to the wine country of California, what if I went scuba diving in Cozumel. Just start DOING!

Nuisance rooster?!?

he crowed for 10 minutes and then kept quiet for 10 minutes.
just enough to allow me to fall back to sleep before starting up again.

I worked nights for years and had to deal with daytime noises, lawnmowers, building, etc... Buy yourself some earplugs and put them in and sleep soundly. They aren't uncomfortable if you get the right kind.

Can anyone provide information about the voting change
by Triple A inno longer can they hide things such as their hypocritical un involvement, policy changes on voting because they lost a law suit in france or trying to keep their image clean by keeping pedophile issues hidden in local kingdom hall closets.

They seem to use that "conscience" thing when they want to... but then say you should have a "bible trained conscience" and then they tell you EXACTLY what a bible-trained MEANING Watchtower-trained conscience should be telling you to do and if you don't... well, then you're DF'd.

Leading double life
by JustTickledPink ini ran into a young jw i hadn't seen in probably 12 years, anyways, she was the presiding overseer's daughter, perfect little jw... she's now 25 yoa, she is still an active witness and in fact a sympathizer to their crap but dressed in a low cut top, belly showing, carrying a beer, trolling for guys out a hot spot on a friday night with a "worldly" friend.. she talked to me for 5 mins and told me she had been df'd for a year but how horrible it was, she is reinstated and doing good..... but everything about her looks said she wasn't a good little jw.. i think more and more hypocrites are being raised in the organization.
i wouldn't be able to stand leading a double life, i would much rather be honest and not hiding who and what i am... but there are more young jws, including ones i would never suspect, that are jws by day, and regular people at night.
i think they are falling into the "sunday morning christians" mentality and carrying tons of guilt around with them.. i just wish they would wake up.

now, her mother takes care of her father and mother's financial situation.

OMG, I forgot I used to do that myself until you just mentioned it. I regular pioneered a little over 12 years ago and to get enough "time" in at the end of the month we would write letters to the family of anyone listed in the obits.
I know it totally sounds crazy now, but I did it like a good little pioneer sister when I was a teenager.
Today that is just horrifying to think of.
