by AK - Jeff incan anyone here point me in the direction of a copy of the talk or booklet online that can be printed?
i have a relative still 'in' that might accept that the 'food at the proper time' was missing here!
i think i used to have a copy of the booklet 40 years ago - but it is long gone.

Who else is not going to the memorial for the first time this year?
by Pole inwell, it's going to be the first memorial i'll miss out on.
no big deal, but i guess it has to be considered one of the final stages of "apostasy" :-).
i remember i used to see some df-ed people at memorials.

3rd or maybe 4th year not going. I was going with my mother but a few years ago she took my being DF'd to a whole new level and said she couldn't ride with me in the same car to the Memorial. She told me to drive my own car and I said if I couldn't go "as a family" with her, I wasn't going. I figured that sealed the deal for me and I won't ever go again.
UNLESS, I won the lottery, then I'd show up in a very expensive car with a bottle of champagne, oodles of jewels.

new thought on disfellowshiping?
by eye 23 inhey... i think i may be addicted to this site!.
anyways, to the point in question......i read somewhere on here that a new thought is coming out soon to the affect of disfellowshipping those who no longer attend meeting ..that the new anouncement would be ....so and so is no longer one of jehovahs witnesses.but then that person would be classed as a disfellowshiped one......the short of it .shunned.
so what i am asking is this...... in a loving way what scriptures would you use in showing that shunning is unscriptual and how jesus showed us to treat one another even those in the faith.....the aim of this is to be the christian here...in order to show those we love that are still blinded how the society is not only unscriptual but also unkind/unloving in its dealings with others.. instead of getting angry...i want to use this oportunity to help those i love to see the unkind/unloving and ultimately unchrist like spirit of the organization.. thanks in advance.

Best advice is
#1 NEVER meet with the elders. Never talk to them, never answer the phone etc. If they can't talk to you, they can't ask you to get into a "meeting" which really means Judicial committee. If they can't talk to you, they can't DF you. Trust me, move, change your phone number, do whatever. Just don't talk to them ever. If they show up at your doorstep, don't answer the door.

The idea of perfection and living forever
by JustTickledPink inthis past year i turned 30, my father in law is visiting and he's turning 62 tomorrow so i'm baking him a cake.
i have been thinking about aging and how it seems very normal to me.
if adam and eve sinned and no longer were going to live forever, how come there aren't plants and animals that were also living forever.

1/2 an acre. That's your little piece of paradise. Enjoy.
Umm, excuse me, but I remember distinctly being told everyone would get 1 acre each. You are ripping me off!!!!
As it is today, our house sits on 1/4 of an acre, so I'm holding out for more!

You know you're a JW when....
by Preston inyou know that d.c. isn?t the capital where the president of the united states lives .
a pioneer isn?t an 1800?s historical figure who traveled the west.
the majority of books in your parent?s bookshelf have years on them.

When you wear too much makeup and instead of being likened to Madonna your mother calls you "Jezebel"

Who here knows much about RADIOMETRIC DATING?
by seattleniceguy ini know a little about it, including the basic theory on how it works.
but i'm interested in reading more.
i figured some of the sciencephiles on the board would have some good resources on the topic..... this is pertinent because the recent thread on noah's flood has prompted discussions on whether alleged global events could have changed the rate of radioactive decay, a suggestion fundamentalist groups like the witnesses like to make.

I thought it was about dating meaning hooking up with people and I was like "hum, I've heard of internet dating, what is this new radiometric dating?" out of curiosity I click and what do I find but stuff about science. HUmph!

NO ONE CAN COME TO THE FUNERAL!!!!
by chuckyy injust an update on my previous thread.as you know, my mother in law who is a jw, asked me to conduct the funeral for my father in law.i am disassociated.
apparently, the elders wrote to the society and had a meeting today.
the outcome is that noone is allowed to come to the funeral, not even close friends of my mother in law from the hall.

And as good little dubs they will follow the lead of what their masters, the elders, say.
How sad.

Elder in coma said Jehovah was testing him.
by Es inan elder in my parents congregation passed away last week of cancer.. i dont know if this sounds weird to anyone else, but about a month before he passed away, he went into a coma, he didnt know how long he was in it for.
but when he awoke he said to one of the c/o visiting him "jehovah was testing me, and tellin me i was going to be ok".
so once he awoken he wasnt afraid to die.. does this sound a little weird to anyone, i just feel if it had of been any wordly person saying that god was talkin to them in their coma that the jw's would say it was the demons?????.

scully, you're on a roll... that is hilarious.
Maybe the test was would be committ adultery in his heart by having lustful thoughts of the nurse while she bathed him or something like that.
