i have been reading alot lately and not posting enough, but i have a situation that i would like some advice for.
i have been having doubts for some time now, and no longer believe the wbts have the truth.
my wife when she first heard of this dilemma, had some issues with it, we had a fallout, and we were seperated for some time.
Why do you have to bring it up?
I think sometimes just letting sleeping dogs lie is a good thing. Let some time pass, keep quiet, stay happy, plan a vacation. Be romantic, have more date nights, enjoy your lives. When the time comes if it does you can talk about it. Until then really work on solidifying your relationship with her.
If she's crazy in love with you and enjoying the new you, happy out of the borg, then she's probably more likely to want to be with you. If you're miserable, act depressed, always want to have these debates over religion, it's not going to be that much fun.
When I left I didn't deal with it for years. I literally just didn't think or talk about it all. When the time came and I was ready I dealt with the subject on my own terms on my own time. I just don't think you need to force the issue. When she's ready, she'll talk.
well any of u that read my post about reinstatement will know what im on about basically i put my letter in for my family ive been dfed since march and they so want me back,.
but the lovely elders took a month to get back to me and then said they were gonna leave it as i have the wrong motive as i am doing it for my family not jehovah, (which of course i am but they werent meant toknow that!
) thing is in my reinstatement meeting i knew exactly what i was doing i knew exactly what i should not and should say and said all the wrong things because i didnt want it,.
I've tossed the idea back and forth many times but I know that I like to live my life the way I choose to and if I ever got reinstated then I would be forever under a microscope.
I also celebrate my birthday, I celebrate Christmas, I see R rated movies, I do as I choose to.
I basically feel that my mother has conditional love for me, if she ever really wanted to get the know the real me and love me for who I am, this wouldn't be an issue. I can't fake anything in life, I can't be a hypocrite, and I don't want to be. I think I'm just perfect the way I am. So I would never change a thing.
I'm so sorry you're stressed about it all though, in time you will know what's best for you. In time you will resolve it in your heart.

since finding out more about the wtbts over the last year, it has come as no surprise to me anymore that the deceptive actions of the mother (wtbts) are seen in some of her children.
the need for double thinking, self deluding beliefs and sneaky, twisted belief and thought patterns that i have noticed over the years in so many jws suddenly makes sense and is no longer scandalising or suprising.. so when i was told of the behaviour of a 'fine, upstanding, pillar of the community, brother' i simply shrugged.
however, the results of his behaviour are not something to simply shrug your shoulders over.. it turned out for the last thirty years of his being married he has conducted affairs with another two 'sisters' in the congregation.
I doesn't surprise me. Nothing surprises me anymore.
In 5 years we'll see if he's back to being an elder.
though this they actually have learned why it is they need it (forgivness).

i work with people and ex husbands who profess to love god, and all the while when they are angry they ask for god's help to forgive people.

I just heard this the other day that,
Forgiveness is the act of giving up the hope that things could have been any different.
Sometimes it's not about accepting the wrongness or the cruelty of those we believed harmed us, it's just about accepting that it happened and nothing we can do in this present moment will change what happened. We have to give up the "what ifs" and the "hope" or wish that it had happened differently. Just accept it as we accept we were born a certain height, a certain race, with a certain hair color. There are some things we can't change, the past is one of them.
Forgiveness is when we accept what we can't change and work towards the things we have control over, which are in the present and in the future.

I have gotten over the feeling of shame they love to cover you in. Anytime I've seen a JW in the past couple of years I always give a very friendly hello and have even had a few short conversations with them.
I have nothing to be ashamed about. I'm not a criminal, I'm not a leper. Let them reject me and walk the other way if they want to. My life is filled with happiness. I have no reason not to show that.
I think hiding proves to them that our lives are not happy. When you walk up to a person, smile on your face, and with a nice light voice and say hello, it kinda proves that ex-JWs can lead happy lives.
i can't help thinking that if i had never gotten baptized out of loyalty and fear of disappointing my parents (and fear of having my flesh eaten by birds of prey after being destroyed in armageddon), i would not be in this situation.
i have several family members and former friends who were raised as jws, but never got baptized, and they never have to experience the angst and pain that i have to experience.
i was baptized and never dedicated my life.
I think the best thing you can do for yourself is stop doing the "could of, should of, what if" game. There are no "what ifs" in life.
I also wish I hadn't gotten baptized at 11 yoa to please my mother but whats done is done. I've now accepted that it's in the past and work towards what I can in the present and in the future.
But know for sure it's not your fault, the fault lies in the organization and in the followers who blindly reject their families in support of a publishing company.

I believe it's the Watchtower society, plain and simple. They do not have the monopoly on God even though they claim Him for themselves only.

The thing that bothered me the most about Witnesses is that NONE of them enjoyed living in this moment. No one enjoyed the present. Everyone was planning on the future.
Personally I don't plan too far in advance. I enjoy every minute and every pleasurable moment today. There is no reason to save up my happiness for someday in the future when lions will be sitting next to lambs. There is no reason for me to save up buying a house until the "paradise" when everyone gets to claim one.
You said "What hope do yall entertain for the future".... I don't really feel like I need a "hope" for the future because my present isn't hopeless. I really do believe that everything is right here, right now, just depends on your attitude and what you're willing to work for.
How about letting go of that "hope" and start working for today. There is nothing you can imagine or dream up or fantasize or "hope" for that can compare to the reality of today. It's all about the here and now.
So, what's going on with you TODAY? What are you working towards TODAY? What are your goals TODAY? What are you going to accomplish TODAY?
